I had the same issue on a '07 PB 379 with ISX475 and it turned out to be the temp sensor. I pulled off the ac condenser and ChargeAirCooler to clean the radiator and I found dried mud/dirt in a pattern similar to the fan attached to the fins. Washed it good with degreaser and a hot water pressure washer first. Gauge continued acting crazy until I replaced the sensor.

I have a 2016 IH lonestar ISX550 that is cold (160 degrees or less ) when its Bobtail, and yet over heats when loaded. over 240 if you don't stop. have put 3 different thermostats and all the other usual things done to it, nothing has solved it.

Radiator plugged? Does the engine fan come on above 220?
Is it pushing out any coolant?
Miles and hours? -
Inside Custer is reading overheated. Warn light is red. Changed out Thermostat and Censor. Still reading Overheating on Custer Temp. Is there some other Censors or maybe bad computer read!??? Trouble did occur until Freezing Weather…. Any ideas?
