Don’t get me wrong, I have a rudimentary knowledge of cb’s and amps, been using them since 1995. My friend works on them and I watch him sometimes. I learned a great deal from a local amp builder and followed his instructions on how to set them up and run them. His daily driver has NINE Leece Neville 250 amp alternators under the hood, so I listen to what he says. Base stations and mobile are essentially the same principle.

I have thought about building my own amp just to try it, but I am missing some of the equipment to do it. I try to be careful with prices of transistors nowadays in some of these amps has gone through the roof, Toshiba is no longer producing them, and the options aren’t as durable from what I have read and seen in videos. You know CB stands for constantly buying right?




^^^^^My builder’s mobile looks something like this. And his base station is incredible too. When he goes to channel 6 where the big stations are, he dominates. Older black guy with a jeri curl, looks like just your average city employee (he’s an electrician) but sharp when it comes to this stuff. And will help you out any way he can.

Here is a video of him (Switchblade) talking from Mississippi to BBI in Idaho. His radio is clear and that is exactly how he sounds in person. My tech friend is the one that tunes his radio. Time to get some sleep, catch y’all tomorrow.

lol I actually got a Tom Tom running up on the dash, but only using it for mph as the speedometer quit working a while back.

 

Just thought since you go to the Eastern Shore so much you'd notice it, it's just right there on the north side of 50/301 at Rt 450, just a couple of miles after you get on from I-97. Pretty sure you could get your truck in there, plenty of Mall parking .

 

Chris is my hero!!! His older stuff is great. Thats the album that turned me on to him but his older “underground” stuff from he 70’s is as good as music gets!
Check out his songs called “Photo Finish” , “Bull rider” or “tie a knot in the devils tail”. From there they just get better.
