I agree, Werner claiming to be the second largest refer company in 1992 sounds a bit fishy to me as well.

I remember Werner running flatbeds heavily throughout the Southwest US in the 90's, I loaded with them at the many wall board plants in that region. One time I recall being the only non Werner truck loading at the old James Hardie wallboard plant in Las Vegas . Also I recall seeing lots of Werner flatbeds at a plastic pipe company in Texas who's name escapes me at the moment.
The picture of the Werner truck above pulling a load of wallboard brings back old memories.

They could have used that truck in "The Road Warrior" movie.

@Mike2633
If you are really going to do that maybe you will want to think about publishing it, either as a book or a serial book in a trucking trade magazine.
The level of detail you have given us from reading other books is pretty amazing (at least for me, a newbie trucker), but knowing the time and effort you are going to go through to do a thorough job for TNT almost demands that you approach it with the thought of protecting your IP, intellectual property.
If you just want to report stuff about TNT on a casual basis as a hobby then by all means do. But if you start getting into the weeds then you might want to chart a more diligent course.
And then after you write and publish the book maybe @Mike_77 or I can write a book review of your book. Choosing this route would put a dent into the growth of your model city though.

Werner wasn't even close to being the 2nd largest reefer company in the early 90s and they still arnt which is kind of surpriseing considering the 3 largest meat packers are in werners backyard ....I hit all the pack plants in Nebraska , Iowa and Kansas and Werner trailers there are almost a rarity .

Werner's refer division is small potatoes. I swear it only does work for General Mills it's very concentrated and very customer specific. There refer trailers that I see any time I see them are always on Intermodal trains and a lot of them look way older then 7 years, I think there refer division is rather small and it is very limited it I think only serves one customer.
Werner said he didn't like the meat plants and decided they weren't going to do business with them. -
Cl might learn to like em a little more after he shells out 90 mil. Lol

That was TNT Companies Overnight Red Hot freight division. Comet was the name and they trucked over night freight through Australia. Australia is a huge huge country I think from like the north west corner of Australia like Sydney area all the way to the South East Corner of the country it's like the distance of driving from London, England to Baghdad, Iraq it's some huge huge distance so they had hubs and air planes and stuff.
But if they could send it via road they did and Comet was the TNT company for Gauranteed Overnight Freight delivery. Which is why there slogan was Absolutely Positively Throughout Australia. Comet Overnight.
Pretty cool company.
My favorite TNT Companies are TNT Comet and TNT Olex. The person to write about TNT should be Rene Buron, he was the man who took all those pictures he's the man who from reading and looking at pictures knew about TNT Company especially up in Canada where they ran really really heavy. TNT was very concentrated in a lot o f things, but there heavy concentration was in automotive manufacturing and Just In Time Logistics. Now the only surviors and ancestors of the TNT lines that are around today are USF Reddeway and USF Holland. Which the USF has been dropped and there now known as Reddeway and Holland. TNT in the late 1990s started selling off all there companies. U.S. Freightways bought all the U.S. LTL Companies which were Holland, Bestway, Reddeway, Redstar & Pilot. Out of all of those Holland and Reddeway are the only 2 that have survived till today.
