Is it possible to run an office from your rig? Transferring information back and forth to brokers/shippers.

Yes. Get a scanner, and your phone can do about anything.

TallJoe, DSK333 and Billyjack Thank this.

Why not? There's tiny portable scanners and printers, and you can power a laptop easily off of even crappy inverters from walmart. You can use your cellphone to communicate. The only problem I could see is the limited space for paperwork if you don't have an offsite, or digital storage solution.

Billyjack and Bean Jr. Thank this.

You may even be able to write off 8sq ft of living space as an in home office if you have a creative accountant.

    Just kidding.

    I did.

Yes, for my last in-truck office all I had was my phone and an HP 2540 multi-function printer. I used the CamScanner app on my phone for scanning documents.

Oh, and a crosscut shredder... leave no evidence. ;)

I fill and sign most of broker paperwork without even printing them Adobe reader.
Pfd printer sometimes is being very useful (I use bullzip pdf).
I have regular laser multifunction printer as well.
First thing I get unloaded and get signed bol, I'm scanning it and saving into specific brokers folder (where I already have signed rate con), then from quickbooks creating invoice from template, attaching rate con and Bol then emailing this to brokers ar. All this takes me 3 min or so. When getting the load similar procedure, so paperwork doesn't take me long.
Once I get home I'm sorting all physical papers in my file cabinet. I'm kind of GoGreen person and trying not to print anything when I can avoid it. Save a tree.
