What was predictable? The fact that the naysayers would proclaim the project dead? Yeah, that was pretty predictable. Doesn't really mean anything though.

Come on, man. The problems with an all-electric truck capable of moving 80k pounds are too numerous to count, even in a local hauling application.

LOL, naysayers? Tesla has never turned a profit. They're famous for releasing and promoting tech that hasn't been proven in real world conditions, and there will always be tech groupies who will call anybody who questions their tech or motives as haters and naysayers. Let me guess, you stand in line when the newest version of the Iphone is released? A Tesla car in auto drive crashes almost monthly these days and several people have died. Me a naysayer because I don't blindly accept what they're selling? Absolutely.

If it was easy everyone would be doing it. I don't imagine the concept of landing booster rockets back on the landing pad is easy either, but they are doing it.
My phone was three generations behind when I bought it and it's the most I've ever paid for a phone. I never get on the tech wave, I let others work out the kinks first.

But I also don't reject new tech just because it hasn't been perfected yet.

I'm far from a Tesla fan boy. I think the release of automation technology that isn't fully autonomous is irresponsible, though Tesla is at least willing to admit that theirs isn't autonomous and the fault for those collisions lies squarely on the idiot drivers who relied on tech to do something it wasn't meant to do.

No, Tesla doesn't advertise their vehicles a autonomous, but they do call their technology "self driving". In the last 2 months, 2 Tesla's in self driving mode have hit fire trucks stopped at accident scenes on highways. One last week in Utah actually accelerated seconds before plowing into the firetruck. In March a Tesla in self driving mode became confused when a highway split lanes, the one to the left for car pools and to the right for all other traffic. The car couldn't decide which way to go so it just slammed into the cement wall dividing the lanes at 65 mph killing the driver. In that case, Tesla put the blame on the driver because he hadn't had his hands on the wheel for 6 seconds prior to the collision. Six seconds? Give me a break. If you're selling a product claiming that it "self drives", it either does what it's advertised to do or it doesn't. Clearly Tesla doesn't have a handle on it. If you look up the definition of autonomous it means acting independently. Regardless of if Tesla does or doesn't call their vehicles autonomous, by calling them self driving, they are saying the same thing.

I stand by my statement that the outcome of their truck roll out was predictable, and I also predict that litigation and poor management will have the Tesla car and trucking portion of their business bankrupt this year.

I'm glad to see someone pushing it to change things the way they are. "We" will develop faster as a result even if it's a flop today. It's his money to burn and it could benefit the future by a great deal. How long would it take if it wasn't for them?

They put a lot of numbers out there but wouldn't even put it range on the weight. That right there was all you needed to know that it wasn't going to happen. The batteries are way too heavy and there's not going to be a solution anytime soon for that.

Hydrogen fuel cells are going to be the future of green trucks. There's a lot of work going on right now into the infrastructure and logistics side of it. Even those trucks are on the heavy side but they would be realistic to operate.

Beautiful truck but really cut out all the drivers. There are already so many problems with the set up.
