Good day fellow truckers.
I have recently employed 2 employees whom have driven LTL Expedited freight. The money was good. However, one driver quit and the other wants to find something that will allow her to be home more often. I completely understand. Which is why I am reaching out. I am looking for local or regional opportunities around the Memphis Tn area.
This driver that stayed has been so very loyal to me so I want to search every avenue to find something for her.
Thank you very much for any info!
I also was looking into getting my own authority. I already have a DOT and MC number but they are not active. I am shopping around for insurance right now. Figure that is the first major hurdle.
I would love some advice on how best to keep my driver happy and making money. Cause if she isn't making money, then neither am I.
Thanks again.
Advice for single driver owner.

The company didn't have agents in my area but I'm sure they will near you I am in the waiting phase of the authority and 14500 for the year in payments @25% down 3500 or so down 1100 a month give or take not great but not bad either. Good luck and remember nobody will work as hard as you for your business as you because it is yours. -

I have $1m auto, $1m general liability, $30K trailer interchange and physical damage coverage for truck and dry van trailer with unlimited radius. Around $1200/month for 12 months, the only down payment was the first month's premium. I'm a new entrant in PA. -
I have millions of loads from different companies that come to me daily and so many brokers call me. Get your authority. Def insurance hurdle but you need active dot and Mc and authority to get insurance right and to keep her making money. Where are you located and where do you deliver to. What are you hauling and hauling in?
-
There's always that variable though - will she qualify to be insured under his policy? Many new entrant policies come with restrictions on driver qualifications.

Don't bother with your own authority, get a hold of Fed Ex and see what they have in the regional freight for an owner. Memphis is their hub of operations, so take advantage of it.

It' a new job for both of us. To find a driver that is loyal and worth a #### is rare. So if I need to adjust a little o keep that driver, as long as we both make money I don' really care what we do.
