Looks has nothing to do with it, the Mack RM series is one of the ugliest trucks on the road, and yet they produced that series of trucks for 40 years.

The Model S is a awesome car.. So he has some production issues on the newest model, tell me what car manufacturer hasnt had issues.. Much less a manufacturer who has reinvented the car's drive line and started from scratch what 10 years ago?

The truck on the other hand I think is a mistake.. All electric is not the way to go.. It needs to be hydrogen/electric like that other experimental electric semi thats out there.. Musk is just anti hydrogen..

Ok 5.. thats hardly 1 a month and not the thousands a month that happen with morons texting.. Id rather deal with a Telsa driving its self than a teen girl with a phone...or half the other morons with phones for that matter...

Edit.. also everyone of those crashes is human failure because they are supposed to keep hands on the wheel and pay attention. Its not 100% self driving tech.

42 years after the Wright brothers made a bicycle fly an airplane dropped an atomic bomb on Hiroshima. Most innovators got laughed at outta the gate. Know your history. 24 years later man walked on the moon.

The fact of the matter is that unless special roadways or lanes are built in which only autonomous vehicles are allowed, there are simply too many variables for humans to program into the vehicle that will take enough precautions to allow them to drive without intervention from people. Humans rely on common sense to make course and speed corrections in order to avoid obstacles. The term "common sense" doesn't exist in programming. Computers aren't intelligent. They're a dumb machine that humans give commands to in order to perform basic functions. Just when programmers think they have it all figured out, a new variable jumps out and requires human intervention so it doesn't happen again. Commercial jets, trains and ships can run on auto pilot for long distances because there aren't tight lanes of travel or frequent obstacles and surface variations to avoid like there are on roads and highways. Even though a commercial jet is perfectly capable of taking off, flying and landing in fully autonomous mode, they aren't permitted to without humans overseeing what they're doing. To make a vehicle of any kind completely autonomous, a human must program a common sense response to every conceivable event, which is of course impossible.

Smart cars and trucks today can control your rate of speed, warn you if you leave your lane, and apply brakes if you get to close to something in your path. Allowing a computer to drive on your behalf is a completely different ball game. As we have already seen in the case of the fatal Tesla and Uber crashes, humans can't be trusted to monitor the functions of the vehicle while in self driving mode. These features give drivers a false sense of security. Tesla is already facing massive class action lawsuits. As with everything else in our modern world, the cost of liability will determine if the technology every becomes commonplace.

So if the crashes didn’t occur due to the human occupant correcting the mistake the autonomous technology made the autonomous technology isn’t the problem?

You should work at Telsa in PR.

48 years later they didn't land on mars.
Don't hold your breath, Elon Musk is fond of making promises he cant keep. Not saying autonomous vechicles will never happen but I for one aint buying stock in tesla.
