Ok I got the fire put out on my trailer. No major damage yet.
A guy said there is two more hills to get over so I’m gonna try and slow down a little and see what happens.

Do you have a jake brake?
Brakes smoking in an area like that is not uncommon.
If you see a flame, keep moving, don't stop. If you pull over and stop, you won't be able to release the brakes again; they'll bond to the drums and then you have major fire problems. That's what usually happens.MartinFromBC, NavigatorWife and rolls canardly Thank this. -
If you stop in that situation, don't set the trailer brakes. I've seen trucks stopped at the bottom of steep grades and the trailer tandems flaming and back of trailer in flames.NavigatorWife and rolls canardly Thank this.
