We had a load of tomatoes due in from Nogales on Sunday. Truck never showed. For some reason they ended up in Niles, OH instead of Niles, MI, a 300 booboo.

I got stuck in a Penske loaner truck yesterday. Freightliner MB106 with a Cummins/Allison. Absolutely no motivation at all. Acceleration was a foreign concept to it. Compared to my daily driver Hino it was an absolute embarrassment. Was definitely happy to be back in my Hino today.

Had a customer get mad at me for not going downstairs. Customer said “all the other drivers do it.” I said “it’s up to the driver but not required.” Customer said “what’s your name I’m gonna request another driver?” I said “xxxxxxx ma’am.” I guess she thought I’d get scared. Nope. Plus it’s not my route. So I don’t care if you request another driver. It’s raining and not safe and not required. Customers get away with so much here it’s not worth it to me.

For the past month or so at work it's been "Slip Seat A Go Go" when it comes to truck assignments. Today I was in another driver's truck and had a Code 37(low coolant)(Thermoking) for the reefer. Considering that I knew that clearing a Code 37 one too many times results in a code 256(or something like that, it locks the reefer down), I decided that it would be in my best interest to climb up and check the coolant level. Considering that I hate heights/climbing this was going to be an adventure. So I climbed up and noticed that the overfill on the coolant res was empty I called the boss. He said we didn't have any coolant in house. So I drove down the street to Wal Mart and bought a gallon.
I put the jug under the reefer and climbed back up but couldn't reach the jug. I climbed back down to where I could reach it, grabbed it and sat it on top on the reefer. Climbed back up holding on like a cat in a rocking chair factory and filled the overfill on the reservoir. I climbed back down and cleared the code in cab. Two hours later the same error code comes up I decide to climb back up after I finish with my Amish customer. I climb back up and realize that the overfill is still full but the main chamber on the reservoir is empty. I fill it/top it off and as I am climbing my way back down my bluetooth ear piece goes off. I answer it and tell the person on the other end to hang tight a second as I am climbing down and that I hate heights.
I clear the code 37 again and no more than ten miles down the road it shows up again. Screw it. I am not climbing up any more. I get back to work and tell the dispatcher the story of what happened. He was nonplussed. Over the past few months we will get one truck back and one or two more will break down. The truck I drove today has 262k miles on it, only a drop in the bucket compared to the KW T300/Sterling Acterras we had before.
During my convo with my dispatcher the subject turned to sending out a 26k GVWR truck with 39k on it. Being 13k over gross might be funny to some people, but considering that the truck is a Freightliner that moves like a slug, the convo turned to tandem axle trucks and me adding something about a split shift tranny.
I have coworkers that can't drive a stick(and they're in their 40s) it would keep certain guys out of trucks that don't need to be dealing with heavy loads.

Any drivers in the forum work for any of the distributors in the Raleigh area? Looking to get on after trucking school in December.

####, the shortage of Foodservice drivers is real. Nobody wants to do this job. My area struggles to hire. I’ve been working with only a 34hr off. Just hit a career high in trucking. $3329 in one week already have a route tomorrow. I’m about to hit 50k for the year. It’s pretty crazy! I’m hearing the other McLane’s here in town are working 6 days also.

I think Food Service is ready for 'job fairs', complete with 'white privilege' speakers, 'black lives matter' speakers, 'gay lifestyle-history' speakers, 'illegal alien' advocates, leftist promoters in general. This will finish driving Food service into the ground. Just imagine arriving at work in the middle of a 'gay wedding', half of the employees don't speak english, and be advised by your MS-13 gangster supervisor to not report the criminality you just witnessed/experienced on company property because your 'white privilege' is the result of 'racism'.
