I'm from New Jersey and I have a few questions. To start would I be better off dealing with a broker or leasing to a company?
Also what would be a good company to lease to?
My last question is having my own authority is that a huge benefit? Any advice, help, and opinions will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance..

If you have business skills, if you like hustling, if you like negotiating and dealing with people, if you are ok dealing with huge stress knowing that nobody is there to help you out, then yes, with your own MC you can make more money.
If not, then lease is a better option

Thanks do you have any idea the best companies to lease to? Specifically in New Jersey. Also when you have your own authority do you deal with brokers?

None of it matters until you learn the business skills, how to drive and how to buy a truck. And then have four to six months capital to pay the bills.

Depends. Do you plan to stay local? Or OTR?

Just my opinion but probably be best to start leased to a company to learn the business side with somewhat of a safety net.

@cherrybone - leases are bad ideas stay away from them I suggest having alot of money in the bank before you buy a truck you need lots of income to run a business you get truck problems your threw the cost could cost you bankrupt if your not busdineb savy here listen to XM radio ch146 or YouTube Kevin Rutherford listen to him first before you make any decisions you leave messages and he will respond to you

Rutherford, IMO, is a joke. Ask him where his truck is. If everyone listened to him, there wouldn't be any O/O's and we would all be driving FedEx trucks.
