Whatever his reason to go to a team setup kinda makes me proud. If buying the truck was too bad he could walk away from the LM deal and obvious repercussions from that. What stokes me is that he just keeps working, learning, and trying new things. Maybe in hind site he may determine that buying that truck wasn't the best idea he's ever had...but he's sticking to his guns and putting in the miles. Maybe in the long run this was the right deal and this industry is as hard as some on here proclaim. For me with +30 years in one industry I can safely say they all basically suck after reading so much recently about trucking. It's just what you are willing to put up with vs the size of the paycheck vs homelife vs d!ckhead bosses vs newbies vs what the ####ever. No one likes a quitter.
I can say this. My first thought was put a big down on a new truck (after I had some experience) and just out work people. Then it was work smarter. In that vein I'm really coming around on a 4-5 year old truck, doing the maintenance and repairs and working from there. I'm a good enough mechanic that I can do the work. I also like knowing there is no one to blame but myself.
Between this thread and @double yellow thread I've gone through a roller coaster of emotion. Thanks to both posters. They are giving their real world education, good and bad, for the readers. Still nothing is a better teacher than doing it yourself.
But #### I'd like that new truck smell.

How much is his truck payment? I scanned the first 80posts real quick and didn’t see what it is. I did notice that he had virtually no bills, so I’d be not so quick to jump on that wagon.

I don't know of anything other than the old time Steam Locomotives capable of 450 pounds feet.
Usually if you follow the lines, hoses or piping to and from any tank under that truck in a safe manner (Wheels chocked etc) you can pretty much figure out what purpose is served by a tank.
Without looking under your specific truck, it is my understanding the wet tank is the first tank to collect air. That is where the sludge and moisture is going to be. There should usually be a air dryer from that wet tank to a second tank on the other side known as a dry tank. That would be the tank drawn from to feed your brakes.
The tank with the drain valves and sometimes a small metal cable pull on them is usually the wet tank.
When you get into three or more tanks it's beyond me unless I am under there physically looking over everything. -
@BoyWander do you have an APU installed on the Volvo? If not you might want to consider one. I know it’s a lease but it’s better than running the engine racking up the hours and burning fuel.
