G driver driver your a real treat. We all know that you know everything and don't screw up in fact you're probably one of those really professional truckers with the cutoff fingertip gloves and the mesh tank top who drives around all day with a hard hat and a safety vest on also. You probably don't know which direction he was doing but you know about that spot he was driving . And I don't think anybody was trying to use being a local driver as an excuse but hey you know what they were thinking
jammer910Z and fargonaz Thank this. -
You couldn't be more wrong in your assumptions.
As far as the local driver stuff goes I didn't insinuate it was an excuse, just the opposite actually.
Yes I know that spot well I offten run in and out Compton/ Rancho Dominguez when working my truck on the left coast.
He took a chance and got busted its as simple as that and I understand taking it if it was in the afternoon rush and not wanting to get caught up in the cluster f.
You are correct about one thing , me not knowing his direction hmmmm.... thats why I asked that question. I guess you missed that.DSK333, SteveScott and Bean Jr. Thank this. -
I started on 60 from the 605. I've lived here my whole life and clearly not using the fact that I know the area as an excuse to drive in lanes I'm apparently not allowed to drive in. TBH I actually didn't know it was illegal to drive in anything other than 2 right lanes, I guess I'm a relatively new CDL driver, 1.5 yrs. It was in afternoon traffic and the only logical thing to do is move out of the rest of the traffic, especially since the cop that pulled me over was using the slow lane to clear an accident. I'm wasn't even in a hurry as I'm paid hourly.driverdriver Thanks this.

I'm not here to fight you, just trying to get some info and some words of adviceTripleSix Thanks this.

Me either.
And again I understand wanting to go left nobody wants to sit in the 3mph traffic thats going to go 57.
As far as truck having to remain in the two right lanes , thats really not correct all the time. Some times in CA you'll see the TRUCKS OK with an arrow pointing to the extra lane available at several large interchanges and multi lane off ramps.
I would still fight it though , maybe the cop doesn't show up and it gets dismissed.
At the very least you try the new drive approach and at least possibly get the fine reduced.TripleSix Thanks this. -
By the way , yes it's a moving violation.
No csa points for your company unless the cop gave you an inspection too.
No points on your psp report either.
You will get points on your mvr though , don't know how many for CA. Each state can be different.
Read regs 383.31 for reporting to your employer requirements.Socal Xpress and Bean Jr. Thank this. -
Good for you, hand. The meek shall inherit the earthDan.S Thanks this.

I received two of those wrong lane tickets in a 6 month period around Detroit, same scenario, middle of the day, heavy traffic and nowhere to go. I took both to court, one was dismissed with a fine, the other the fine was lowered but it went on my CSA. The CSA one was written by a state cop, no way out of that one. The one that was dismissed was from a city cop. Both fines were around $150. Oh, and neither have showed up on my driving record. Still clean.

The vehicle code in Commie-fornia states that ALL VEHICLES towing a trailer, have to be in the far two right lanes at all times when there are more than three lanes. (The carpool lane does not constitute a #1 lane, the #1 lane starts to the right of the carpool lane.)
When there is a freeway interchange approaching, you cannot legally merge over into any other lane until you see and pass the overhead interchange sign with the arrows pointing down directing vehicles what lane they need to be in to merge.
If you are in those lanes before you can see and pass that interchange sign, you will or can receive a ticket for a "<Out of Lane" violation.
The reason being is, the beginning of the next highway route that you are merging to doesn't begin until you pass underneath the overhead interchange sign.
Also on a highway with only three travel lanes, (not including the carpool lane) (like the CA-60 east and west, between the I-15 and CA-91/I-215 interchanges) all vehicles towing a trailer must stay in the far right lane, you may pass another vehicle in the #2 lane, but you must merge back into the far right lane (#3 lane) after you complete your pass and stay there.
If you are not in the far right lane at all times through that corridor, you can also receive a "Out of Lane" violation citation.
These are the laws and rules of thumb that the CHP follow to issue citations for "Out of Lane" violations, just because you never received a citation before when a CHP officer was present, doesn't mean you were legally in the correct lane.Last edited: May 31, 2018
