I remember back in the 90s I would go on road trips and hear quite a bit of chatter on the cb. Nowadays I don't hear anything. I can ask questions, advise or anything and don't get anything in response. I know my cb works and I'm being heard. So what gives? Are truckers nowadays that self centered that they can't take 2 secs out of their day to respond?
I have heard that some people have an app on their phone that regular cb radios can't pick up but I know there can't be that many people using it. Does anyone know what app they are referring to? Or why the hell noone is speaking on the lifeline of this industry? What happened to truckers sticking together and helping one another out? Someone must need to teach these young bloods about the need for the so called "trucker brotherhood" and fast or this industry will most certainly suffer because of it.
What gives?!?!

Newbreed losers and foreigners that can't speaky english...
-
Well hell that's to bad cuz some new breeds keep it old school. As for not speaky English they can stay off anyway cuz that drives me nuts.

Pretty sure there is no app capable of cb frequencies. Could be wrong but don't think so.
People spend all their time on the phone talking and texting. Some are watching videos while they drive. Passed a fella with his think pad (or whatever they're called) one night. Had it set on his dash watching an adult video. Dude was all over 3 lanes. So, you can use your imagination as to what he was doing. -
Good Luck with that. The days of "Knights of the Road", and sticking together is long gone. The new breed of driver today is so wrapped up in his/her technological devices, text messages, social media, smartphones, and so forth, which takes away from what they consider old school tool of the trade. It is amazing how you could not buy a response on the highway, but get in a truck stop and you can't get a word in. CB Rambo's, cowards who hide behind in their trucks or sleepers and talk ****.shogun, rabbiporkchop and RustyBolt Thank this.

I bet he was adjusting his joystick while watching porn on his phone..

Really?? I still can't even get a radio check at truck stop. It amazes me. Ya were young but #### I grew up knowing the rules of road (GPA was a otr driver) and Im shocked how these newbies treat one another.

Heard same complaints 20+ years ago.
Biggest difference today is the unneeded foreigners.
Internet makes it a lot easier to stay in touch. Unlimited calls. Read the news. YouTube music. Etc.
AND it depends where you are, driver. I run out of the Texas Panhandle north and east. Then return. No end of talk, though not on Interstate until OKC. That city is more ###### CB fun than any I know.
The Snake. And his crowd. Rolled in on Monday, Memorial Day and they were talking about something they were observing. I couldn’t figure it out. TV. Or, I thought they were back at the lake, fishing different parts of a shoreline.
Nope, watching the Hawaiian lava flow. Disputing minor points. Dry as hell humor. Cracked me up since it took me so many miles to figure it out.
And all this week and last I’ve been overwhelmed by skip. 9,10, 11 states. FL to CA. Some truly big radios.
So much so that I’ve had to back off the settings at times.
And between the cattle haulers and some of the oilfield crowd, 19 can be a busy place out here. Lots of great rigs in large cars.
Don’t forget that today’s trucks really suck to get a good antenna system working. As in, $$$. And wasted effort to discourage anyone. Or techs who can’t find their ahole with nine fingers; “experts”. Etc.Ougigoug and rabbiporkchop Thank this. -
I've come to the conclusion that so many of the new drivers are so bad because they don't run a radio. Think back to when you started, if you are an old hand that is. You learned a lot about driving from the CB. Sometimes they were nice about it, sometimes not. But your mistakes would be pointed out and you would make an effort to correct those mistakes. Now days, they don't know what they are doing wrong and continue making the same mistakes over and over again. Not to mention the navigational disasters that could be avoided with just a short convo on the radio.
