Officer that took report said it probably will be found in miami after they steal and unload a few trailers they will abandon it. I notified everyone involved, now I have to wait until tomorrow to talk to insurance and landstar. This sucks.

i think too, in most thefts of vehicles, the insurance companies wait it out for a "few days" to see if it does get recovered, good, bad, or ugly.

    sorry for your troubles.

maybe for your own peace of mind, your next truck, get some sort of independent tracking device???

maybe even in cab cameras as well so if found, the cops have some sort of video?

    Dave_in_AZ and jsnell Thank this.

Yeah I had co. trailer stolen (detached) while on home time. I checked it 3 times a day and had the landing gear handle chained to the landing gear. This was Sun City, Ca. so probably was in Mexico before I got up. If the OP parks there normally, the bad guys cruise and know your schedule. Truck theft and trailer theft is big business.

There are dash cams that will transmit data to your email or smartphone. Cam goes with truck, but video goes to you.

In your area, I would check on one. I live in central Florida. It’s rough down there

Company's always know where there trucks are....these are expensive trucks they monitor them... sometimes you can log into your account and see where your truck is at....

Landstar safety open 24-7. Insurance Monday am. They checked eld. Disconnected. Probably not the thief first time.

Not always. I'm in a decent sized company (4,500 drivers) that had a couple of trucks stolen a few weeks back. Had to be an inside job. From the time the security cameras seen them pull up to the locked gate was 6.5 minutes to drive off.
    1. Pulled up in pickup, cut locks on the gate.
    2. Smashed windows on truck to get the keys.
2a. Toss the ELD's (and by extension, the tracking devices) out of the truck and smash them with a hammer.
    3. Unhook from our trailers , and hook to trailers that had high dollar parts in them.
    4. Leave the property

We did get the trucks back the next day because they were reported to the police for illegal parking. No sign of the trailers or parts that were stolen.
