TALK with other companies.....explain why you want to leave.
do YOU and hubby actually own your truck outright, or are you lease operators, paying THEM for the truck?
all companies make threats. for gosh sakes, stop being bullied. -
Not how that worked. They said we were abondoning the tractor and load if we did. Said we have to pay for it.

Get a lawyer if you need to. I doubt if their so called no competition clause is enforcable. And they could not sue the new trucking company because the contract they have is with you. Not the other comapny. Quit.

DEMAND to go home.....tell them, you ain't gonna take thier crap NO MORE..then just hang up, cold, make sure they hear the giant "click"
you gotta both be newbies, that's where they got you.....they got the fear in you. -
Not allowed out of the truck
Not allowed to go home
Not allowed to quit
I thought you had to be of adult age to possess a CDL? I guess they’ll give anyone a CDL these days -
Truck would have been set on fire at that point. I guess if you didn't die in the fire THAT also would've been abandonment. There's more going on here then the op is saying.

Ok first, talk to a contract lawyer in your state. See if the non-compete is even valid. Most states it would not be.
Even if it is valid, it is limited. I.e. only applies to driving for another company. Go work the docks at an LTL company and when the non-compete has expired That way you still have a deficient job, and can transition right into a driving job at the ltl. Never have to worry about home time again. -
Thanks!
