I don't think these 2 groups are going to be making any trade deals other than their own spit. Radical left and right fringe groups. Mostly made up of underemployed idiots with nothing g better to do than protest something. ...anything.

 

All our welfare recipients are out there protesting the pipeline we just bought. All they're doing is trying to ensure there isn't any available work.
With the direction trade seems to be going, and us only having one customer we sell oil to, at a discount at that, we need this thing built, as in - yesterday.

Yes...but.... the way the deal was done stinks and is full of political patronage and hand outs to corporations. A terrible deal. Terrible. Something a trust fund drama teacher would do..

 

I'm not aware of the details of the deal.
As of now, I only see it as something that needed to be done. Considering we can't get one built east thanks to Quebec, and keystone XL didn't happen either, and now going west is under threat also. Albertans must be royally upset over all of it, all that wealth in the ground and only 1 customer to sell it at a discount to, and the rest of the country giving the middle finger when we'd like to chase foreign markets. If anyone has a reason to build a wall and start their own country, it's them.

The whole idea that we will somehow dodge climate change/global warming is a farce in my mind. Even if the entire western world (majority of oil burners) convert to solar or wind or what have you, what happens following that? Price of oil plummets, poor countries can now have their own industrial revolutions thanks to cheap energy. And who would we be to say to them, "You can't burn that". Or declare some prohibitively expensive tax upon them.

What we should be going after is the clean burning of fossil fuels. This whole idea of simply "burn less" won't work. We should be using it in a sustainable manner. If they wanted us to use less, let us use old trucks for a start, but you will get soot and nitrous oxides. Can't have it both ways. I see a very dark future for humanity.

 

Honestly on the subject of oil supply and climate change. If we don’t supply it, someone else will!

 

As much as I hate giving him credit....he did the right thing.

My only criticism is that he will never play hardball with Quebec over Energy East.....
