Two week notice?

As I read some of these replies it has occurred to me why so many companies treat drivers as a commodity, as just another tool to get the job done, no different as the truck itself.

 

my thoughts exactly the only thing i would add is why not try and alter the new orientation day i'm sure they'd appreciate the fact that your doing the right thing by your current employer if you told them look i can't make it by the up coming orientation and could you start at the next one you may find you could work something out.

 

Unfortunately, loyalty no longer carries any weight. As soon as they know you're out, you're out. They're done. No second chances. In fact, we all learn the hard way at some point to never accept a counter offer from your current employer; it's not going to work out once you tell them you're quitting.

 

Loyalty is a personal philosophy. At least where I am concerned. Yet, I completely understand where you’re coming from.

 

Right. I learned the hard way to not give loyalty unless it's being given back. Otherwise you're cutting yourself short. Trust me, I was the dude always worshipping my boss until I realized he didn't GAF and in fact, I think it contributed to the lack of respect I got at work. It takes being a stern MF to succeed in this industry. You have to chew tobacco and give hateful looks. You have to tell people your name is "Burl," and you're a Hells Angel. And all that ####

If your heart isn't in it, then you shouldn't be behind the wheel.

 

Well the answer could be yes and no.
No company is going to be the perfect 110%.

Might try talking with the owner and see what is going on with things from your last conversation.

One thing, try to keep the negative point of view in check.
Try to look for solutions and the potential. Make it clear that you want to be sucessful.
Then ask good questions and the actually listen to the answers. Something sounds off, get it clarified.
