I'm soon to start in the van choice program. I'm aware of the problems/concerns/issues and am ok with them as a relatively short term solution for me...so this post isn't about the merits or lack thereof with the program. I'm committed to doing it.

If I could please get some help with knowing some specifics about ability to get to/through some places it would sure help me with my planning.

    1) Can I get from Green Bay to/through SLC in a reasonable amount of time for decent money? I just need to do that once. I realize that "reasonable" and "decent" are subjective terms...just your opinion on the feasibility of that route would help me....I'm trying to decide if I should ship a bunch of stuff from SLC to Green Bay or work my way from Green Bay to SLC.

    2) Can I get to or through the Ann Arbor or Fenton MIchigan area fairly easily from time to time for 34-48 hours?

    3) Can I get to or through the Vail Colorado area fairly easily from time to time for 34-48 hours?

    4) Can I get to or through the Harford County MD or Baltimore area fairly easily from time to time for 34-48 hours? For a night?

    5) Can I get to or through the Pittsburgh (east of it a bit actually) area fairly easily from time to time for 34-48 hours?

    6) How close can I get to south Florida and get a reasonable load out?

I have more related questions but I will try and wait on my useage of the load board for the answers to them, I'm sure I've overdone it with these.

I think your obvious priorities will greatly reduce your chances of success.
    Good luck anyway

I think you greatly misunderstand me and are incorrectly guessing at my intentions. I currently take about 5% of time off, and intend to maintain that pace.

    But thanks for the encouragement.

You can get through anyplace for any amount of time you desire. The question is how much are you willing to pay to do so? There have been guys on here that park their truck at a midwest OC and fly home as it was more profitable that way.

Opus' reply to you was based on years of watching guys sign on the dotted line thinking they can make bank, go wherever they want, and take as much time off as they want. Most of those guys end up turning in the truck - 40% of those who sign on as an SNI IC are no longer with us one year later. There is a lot of freedom with Choice , but freedom come with responsibility. When you state that you're going ahead, then ask about ease of getting places to take time off, my and others first thought is "whelp, here comes another 'repo truck'".

As Opus said, I wish you luck.

I'm new to this but getting from the midwest back to the west has been impossible so far. I've been doing ok out here in the midwest money wise, but I may have to pay my own way home bobtailing.
