DOT in NY has been "blitzing" since Dec when the ELD mandate kicked in and been training their 160 new DOT inspectors that they hired on top of the 600 they already have . I have actually seen less open check points today than I expected.
. I seen them at the South bound 33 mile marker rest area on 81 working hard, but other rest areas and scales I expected to see them today they weren't there. I run like I'm going to get pulled in everyday, because there's a possibility of it everyday , so blitz week is no different than any other week. I run a ELD ( which I hate) and if something's broke or needs atttention I fix it . It has to be fixed anyway, so why add DOT fines and B.S to the equation. They can always find something even if they have to make something up ( brakes out of adjustment)
I think rest areas should be a safe haven where they should not be allowed in. Let them be set up in scale houses and do there rolling DOT checks if they have probable cause, something they see while your driving ,not just to "check you out " and write some BS tickets .
I've seen DOT cops roll into truck stops and start DOT inspecting trucks ,that's ##### ridiculous ,especially with some of the gung ho clowns in jumpsuits they have out here now.

...and to think I was giving the wife's brother a hard time because the gal he was dating had a daughter with a kid & another on the way. Teased him quite a bit, calling him "grandpa" the whole time he was here visiting. He's my age, and I just had my 1st less than a year ago.

Then I think about an old friend I grew up with. Senior year, he got his 15 yr old gf pregnant...lucky he didn't end up in jail for that, but her family liked him and they ended up getting married. Their daughter is in college now...hell, she might've graduated by now. ####, now I feel old.

Oh no not yet I couldn’t find a tire shop around where I am(downtown Atlanta). And I had to get to a delivery 100 Miles away. They were pulling trucks over on the opposite side as I was driving fingers crossed. But tomorrow I will
Do it. Went to loves actually first and it was a 7 hour wait.

Tbh, you are the FIRST and ONLY person that called that out in all the years i've been on here, so......good for you~!! Kids are teaching you well, man!

God Bless You! I have 3 step kids and 7 grand kids ( 2 I'm raising since babies , now 11 and 13) love them all the same. Every thing I do is for them, always let them know how blessed I am to have them in my life. I'm 53 and they
Run me ragged sometimes, but they keep me young .
Dad and pop pop are the 2 most important titles a man can have

The Des Moines scale was very busy yesterday. Both the scales on 80 in Nebraska we’re doing inspections today east and west bound.

Inside or outside tire? Once you hit your delivery, single that SOB out if its on the outside...then you'll be legal to roll to wherever you need to go to get a new tire put on. Might cause an officer to look closer at you having a bare rim, but as long as you aren't overloading that 1 tire you have left there isn't anything they can do.

A clean inspection is better than risking an OOS for a bad tire, especially if you can pull the bad tire off. If it's on the inside, your options are fewer...
