My very 1st driving job, way back in the late 60s. Got a flat on the steer, no spare, I was empty and just a kid. I called the boss and he says to me: the truck has a bottle jack in it, doesn't it? your empty and you have some 4x4s on, right. The truck has a lug wrench and breaker bar right?

Then he says, take your time and figure it out. I will see you in the yard in the morning.

A great lesson and when the kid figured it out he thought he was the smartest man out here

I've wondered in the past if the truck compressor might run a half inch impact driver from the trailer line, but I guess that's a tall task without a breaker bar or 1" gun or a torque multiplier.

The truck ought to have no problem keeping up with a 1/2" gun...now a 1" gun I can understand it struggling, but most tools you'd use with a 1/4" quick-connect at the shop ought to function just fine. Most truck compressors are a higher cfm than my compressor at the house...(I'd have to look at exactly what it is...want to say somewhere between 15 & 18 cfm) which still exceeds the cfm usage of most small air tools. What the house compressor lacks in cfm, it makes up in volume though, with an 80 gallon tank.

What a week. I innocently poured out my piss jug in the scale house parking area and a DOT stood by while I had to mop it up. Next thing I knew I was famous everywhere on the internet!

Neither me nor my driver have been pulled in. I've seen a few with trucks getting inspected. I just pull on thru.

Whats the worst they can do? In the past ones,.. I was never held up for more than 15 - 20 mins. Usually just quick log check,.. then have a nice day. Nice "No Violations" to add to my CSA collection.

My torque multiplier has saved my bacon a few times. My impact has more torque going in reverse and my truck has left hand threads on one side. So sometimes it doesn't have what's need to back off the lugs on the opposite because it can torque then a little tighter if I'm not careful.

I find it a bit shocking that many drivers don’t have a basic “go bag” with tools in it. I can’t imagine putting myself in a situation where less than $200 in tools crippled my forward progress and left me susceptible to outrageous prices.
