    I know there is always somthing bad to say about any company be corporate, independant or whatever. Does anybody have anything good to say about them? The only reason I am considering them is;

    1) They will take on students who just completed training.
    2) They have a pet policy. (I will not give up my adopted family member.)

    Would like to consider Swift but no pets.

    As an alternative, any companies in the Seattle are that will take on newbees and allow pets?

    Right now Werner is taking on new drivers, running them team through their training phase then sitting them until their 30 voluntary quit comes up. At that point the new driver has to go through the hiring process again. I would advise any new driver to stay away from Werner unless they are just looking for a low paying job for the next month. I read about this in the WERNER section of the trucking company DAC reports area of this forum. So I called a friend of mine who spoke to a friend of his that trains for Werner and he said that's exactly what's going on right now. He runs with his trainees as a team because he gets paid for all miles the truck rolls. Not a good situation. On the good side, they are ALWAYS hiring for whatever that's worth.

    They have some of the best equipment on the road for one thing. There are a lot of old drivers and new drivers sitting right now. This does not extend to Werner alone, its every company in the country right now. No business, no freight, equals no miles. Do your homework in regard to ANY company that you are considering. Weigh the pros and cons. Ask questions, dont be shy about it, they want to know everything about you. Be sure you ask about salary, bonus, benefits, driver longivity, equipment and anything else you can think of. Good luck and I sincerely hope that if you go with Werner you're happy and profitable with them.

    A good friend of mine used to drive for Werner... she has good and bad things to say, but quit because they were trying to force her back into training.

    Equipment is ok until it breaks. Go to terminal with load. You get priority treatment because of the load. As soon as you get on the list to get the problem fixed, you loose the load. Without the load your priority status goes to squat. Since your priority status just went south of frozen hell, you won't get your problem fixed for a couple of weeks. Moral of story: Drive broken equipment, don't go near a terminal!

    If you want a computer to control your life, IMO, you have a serious problem. Paper logs are your friend. You get to determine how line 3 and 4 are reported - not some geek programmer who has never sat in the left seat of a CMV. Time on line 3 and 4 = money.

  9. best thing about werner is when you have just quit and you can see the company grounds in the rear view mirror of what ever vehicle you are leaving in

    If you're a shipper they're particularly good right now. Got a couple trucks sittin for days in every city of the country with an ideal newb waitin to go. Get your load there fast and CHEEEEAP!

    I for one have had a different expierence, I have many good things to say about Werner, and they fired me.

    Paperless Logs - People whom have never used em love to rip on them. People whom have cheated logs previously hate them. But the fact is my 10 year exp. trucking hubby misses his paperless logs now that he has to do the paper ones. Because most companies look hard at your logs these days, its no longer about 'looking good' now they are checking facts. When your truck started rolling to when you said you were on duty... these days if you work for a good sized company its likely you will get caught cheating the logs.

    Terminals suck.

    Safetly Lane sucks.

    But I liked mostly everything else... except the last day =(

    luvtheroad Thanks this.
