I am trying to drive for a company that uses ELD. Omnitrax. The ELD was plugged into the ECM port. Everything is working properly except it is not recording the miles traveled. Is there a legal way to continue to use this ELD? I have been to Freightliner to have the ECM checked out. Their computer can detect faults, but is unable to identify what the fault is.

1999 and older trucks are supposedly not able to support ELD, that's why they are exempt from using them.

You should be happy, only paper logs for you.

When you say "everything is working properly" but it is "not recording the miles traveled" - do you mean that it IS doing your daily log, and it IS going into the drive line (line 3) automatically? It just isn't recording the daily tracking (miles traveled) in the back end online portal?

Yes, it goes to drive line the instant the truck begins to roll. The miles driven shows 0 no matter how many miles I have driven.

Call tech support. Have them send an update to the device. Your firmware is probably out of date.
