Only if you want to go into ports and I think maybe Rail Yards
-
It’s a luxury. I get casino, spa and hotel discounts with mine.

Some chemical plants like to see them. I did a pickup back in 2011 at one in Lake Charles La and was asked if I had one.Faintestidea and hagarcobra Thank this.

Depends mostly on who you drive for. Ask them. If they don't run much intermodal you'll be wasting your time and money. Also, if they do try to send you into any ports make sure you get paid detention because they move like snails in the Union shops.

Do u enjoy shipping ports, rude dock workers, security lines, delays, messed up roads, porta-potties and no bathroom? Then TWIC is for you!
austinmike, 6wheeler, Lite bug and 1 other person Thank this. -
Sounds like walmart to me...IluvCATS Thanks this.

I was required to have one pulling tankers.
You need it for entry to sea ports, rail yards, chemical plants, military bases, and one driver said he had to have one for delivering food to prisons. -
In all seriousness, I was asked several times about my TWIC and hazmat by my recruiters and I believe it made me more employable. They are trying to get current drivers to get them and promising “more loads” and less sitting. So maybe it’s worth it.
