    Because if they just told driver's that, they wouldn't get paid for the scale tickets, they do it so that they can collect their money from you.

    When I first started running long haul I had a DOT lady yell at me like that... I had rolled too far forward and my steers were off the scale by about 2 inches... "Driver, back up."... Well it took me a second to get the truck into reverse and before I could... "DRIVER! Back up! Your steers are off the scale!"

    Mean while a coworker of mine was walking toward the scale house shaking his head. Surprisingly I didn't get an inspection. She looked over my paperwork asked what I was hauling and sent me on my way.

    Since then I have NEVER rolled to far forward on a DOT scale... I'd better find some wood to knock on now, and cross my fingers too!... Lol
