Hey can anybody filled me in on the basics of adjusting the tension on the hinges Of the engine hood of a freightliner Coronado?

The Coronado SD’s I work on don’t have an adjustable tension for the “helper” struts. You can replace them with higher or lower thension. It’s a challenge to get the parts counter guys to dig deep enough to figure out the last three of the part number your looking for. But there are around 4-5 different tensions available. (Range from 150lbs - 500lbs)

So what I’m hear is rather than an adjustment is a part replacement. That would mean to me that there is different parts to accommodate different hoods but my hood has not changed which must mean that something else has changed.

I apologize for not seeing this earlier.
Usually when we have hoods hard to open or close it’s because either the hood bushings are bad, tinge struts have worn out their bushings, or a cab mount is out putting the hood in a bind.
