The difference between you and I is that I have learned to work smarter,.. not harder for less. I dont blame others or make insulting remarks based on ethnicity.

Just so happens,.. I'll be in Elizabeth on Monday. I'll be at Vince Lombardi afterwards. BlackCherry W9 with Florida plate pulling MAC step deck. I'd love to meet you in person for a friendly chat.

A friend said that the rates are down?

Sorry but they are up. A lot of cheap people out there grabbing what they can because they are bottom feeders and need to pay the bills.

I've seen more increases in general van freight than I have any other segment, over $2 at the bottom.

Well let's see I've only seen firsthand any number of farms who have nothing but immigrants working for them, not only from south of here or the middle East, but Ukraine and other European countries, because they don't mind cheap pay because what we call cheap is good where they came from, and this will apply to any and every industry. I am not "anti immigration" I'm anti look the other way on millions of cases of felony trespass, that is what every illegal immigrant is committing. Not everything in the world is about race unless you want to make it that way.

Thanks, Ridge. How about comparing this period to 10 years ago. Better or worse?

I'm confused,.. are we talking about illegals,.. or immigrants in general?

Because I dont see illegals booking loads and effecting rates in that regard.

And in my opinion if you have an issue with immigrants working for cheap labor on farms,.. your issue should be with the farmers who hire and pay them. I dealt with the same problems in construction.

Lol. Youre the one who made it about race you fool. Of course immigrants will work for dirt cheap because they literally have to eat rotten food out of garbage dumps where they come from. This was exactly my point earlier. Your feminine qualities showed through though and got your panties in a bunch.

And the reason why the immigrants are exploited for cheap labor, especially in America, is due to globalism and free trade. Corps like walmart will force producers to sell their product for X, which means if that producer wants to stay in business, they have to lessen their costs which directly hits the American worker. This is what happens when business becomes concentrated into globo stores like walmart and target, and mom and pop shops have to close on main street America.

Its frankly disgusting that you seemingly are care free about selling out America.

And dont tell me S about working on farms. I come from a family where both sides worked the crops when they were growing up.

You don't own a truck but you are quite invested in this conversation. Interesting.
Rates are better now than I have seen since opening my own authority in August of 2012. Further back than that? I don't know. Some people will always make the argument of how great trucking used to be, that they made money they didn't know how to spend, yada yada yada, and if it was the same today as it was then, the going rate would be $25 per mile. That is not the reality. If you want to be successful you have to operate in the market you are in. It just so happens that right now is a carrier's market. That could be due to many factors. Eld cut capacity, tax cuts on business driving more economic activity. Stagnantly low interest rates perhaps. Railroads at capacity(?). Does not matter. This business is cyclical. It will slow down again, just a matter of when. Remember we are in the longest economic recovery in history..
All those Canadian trucks are taking loads either from Canada to USA or from USA back to Canada. You or anyone else are welcome to compete with the international loads if you desire.

Maybe you should bring it to your presidents attention that Americans could be doing all that farm work instead of immigrants, legal or not. And make them pay $15 an hour because "that's fair". Just don't come crying when a tomato is $3.
