Sheilamae, We can take our trucks home, just make sure you have a safe secure place to leave it. As for staying warm, every truck has a different system. I have an older Volvo, which has an optimized idle system. Basically, I set the desired temperature and the truck will turn on and off automatically to retain that temp. Other trucks have different systems in them. I don't know how they all work. Swift does understand we have to stay warm, though.

the older trucks have idle systems where the truck runs at the desired temperature you set. the newer trucks does not have idle systems, but they are equipped webasto heaters to help keep you warm in the winter. As for summer either you idle or have a fan. As far as you being to take your truck home, you can take your truck home. Keep in mine you better have a safe place where it will not get vandalized, broken into, and/or get towed.

I drive for swift and it has its good and bad. I drove a daycab for Coca Cola for 6yrs and still had to go with a trainer so I give them that much as far as making sure I knew what I was doing. It's all about you and what you can learn and common sense about being safe on the road. The other truckers give all of us a bad time b/c of the ones that just get in a truck and think they know everything in the training period but its more to it. You have to have driver etiquette and know what you can and cant do in our trucks as far as pulling out in front of trucks in the "hammer" lane and backing. thats the complaints or chastising I hear the most about even though there are some worst drivers than us. I've seen them. And you have to have a good dm b/c they are supposed to take care of you. But if you don't stay on them they will screw u. So be careful out there and learn as much as you can

all these people want to say we have a socialist country. But who are we borrowing 1billion a month from for a war.CHINA which is what a socialist country. Who asked for that. BUSH this started way before this election. it started 1yr into the war on terror when we decided to go into Iraq destroy the country and now can't get out b/c its another Vietnam. Lets stop with the socialist talk b/c we don't even own a single US port in America. The Arabs do. It started to go bad when the Europeans came out with the Euro across all of Europe. We were being bankrupted from then on.We need to support each other as Americans b/c a country divided is a country defeated
