I don't know if they even want to be nationwide, but the company is growing fairly fast. Regardless, at the current rate of expansion I wouldn’t expect anything like that for several decades. One problem Dayton has had is opening a new small terminal and getting more business than they can handle for the space. They really want controlled growth, but demand has been high in new territories.

what has been happening since about 1923 is an ltl company starts out as a good company and a great place to work with excellent customer service expands very fast and then the founders start to retire and are replaced by mbas ( master of buisness administration ) then they start expanding a little faster and buying up smaller companies soon it becomes an ok place to work and customer service and good driver retention starts to suffer . then it becomes a crapp place to work and finally ends up going out of buisness ..... sounds simple but has been happening for a very long time

Yup pretty much. One step you missed is they go public and it becomes all about the stock price and shareholder return. Less for driver equals more to shareholders.

Interesting how the comment about team pay at R&L was deleted. They sure are secretive about everything. I was gonna ask her if there was separate pay for drop/hooks and fueling, but I guess we'll never know. I don't get it.

r&l is a need to know company if they feel you need to know they will tell you ........ I do some linehauls occasionally from Norwalk or Wilmington they don't seem like too bad of a company. . I think the pay may be a little bit better than dayton but to tell the truth I think overall dayton is probably a better place to work just my observations talking to drivers
