Contemplating purchasing this, I was looking for one with a cat but at the same time I don't mind a detroit.
Anything I should be worried about or specifically check for when I go to look at the thing? Aside of the usual of course.
I've also tried to find a driver's manual and or service manual for it but have yet to locate it online. Anyone have one in electronic form?
Thanks!
Should I buy it? 2007 FLD132 Classic w/ 60 series 14L

Mine is an 06 and it does great, burns a little oil but what Detroit don't. I don't put the miles on yall do though.

Just bought the same truck myself. My 06 Coronado got written off by a drunk driver in an F350 work truck. I like the 60 Series so I wanted another. The later 60s can be ready for rebuilds at relatively low mileage though. The rebuild is half the price of the CAT rebuild. Other than how well it is kept I'd just be looking at the mileage and if/when it had it's rebuild. My buddy who sold me the Classic says it has terrible heating and AC though. I probably won't mind the lack of heat but I do want to look into the AC, actually that's one of the things I came here to look for. Also cheaper to keep the Classic looking good, lots of aftermarket parts available for the Classics from Chrome Shops. Beats the Coronado where I always had to order body work and lights directly from Freightliner at like 6x the price. Good luck with it if you decide to get it!

Any series 60 before 08 should just be an EGR. But in 08 they made the last version of the 14l with weird dd15 looking intake and I take meter valve and all that garbage. 2007 should be a ddec 5, ecm. Those are really good. Make sure not much gases are coming out the crank case tube. Or dip stick, or oil fill tube. Get a trip report from the ecm to get lifetime idle %. And some other info. After you buy one, make sure the ecm is tuned good by a good tuner. After that run the hell out of it and enjoy it.

Hello everybody!
I'm new on here, just joined 5 minutes, my friend said this is the place to go for information. I have a 2011 Volvo 780 with the ISX Cummins 15. Two weeks ago I started hearing a tapping noise, I took it to my mechanic and he pulled the top of the engine off. He called me and said my camshaft and rocker arms are beating again each other. I already had ran my racks on it. He said I had to replace my camshaft, intake rockers, exhaust rockers, Jake box rockers, 2 rocker shafts. Plus labor, I'm looking at $13,000. I found a Detroit 14 liter with low mileage for $5,500. My friend told me to take out the Cummins put in this Detroit and change the turbo to the Borg Warner and by the aftermarket exhaust manifold. He also told me to send the ecm and get it tuned and I'll be satisfied. Any suggestions from you guys? -
Your mechanic better be the local Volvo dealer for $13,000. Should be able to get done for 1/2 that if the diagnosis that you posted is correct.

What causes that? Bad Camshaft bearings? Rockers? Both? Just had Overhead done sounds suspicious.Like my old Cat fuel pump rebuild. Suddenly chipped tooth on bull gear. Due to Mechanic, I’m pretty sure. Couldn’t prove it though. Too many repairs these days. Lots of unnecessary repairs IMO
