I don’t mean to sound like a prick but #### I’m thankful that I live on a farm and don’t have to worry about the crap some of you deal with. Hell, we don’t even have a police department. If there is an issue, I have to call the state police. If there is an issue I would just grab one of my guns and handle it. By the time the state police arrive, it would be a long time

    Coover Thanks this.

Slap one of these on your personal vehicle to ward of criminals...

    Yuk! Yuk!

Ever notice when cops come in pairs someone has to be the douche bag? It's like soon as they get in a group of two or more, there is always that one guy. Hrrm...kinda like being out drinking with friends. You always got that one friend who has to be THAT guy.

The OP's line about being broke an the crook just getting training reminds me when I was a member of a certain credit union. I went to deposit money one day an they asked for ID. I told them from here on out if someone wants to DEPOSIT into my account, they are more then welcome, no need to check id. Now if they wanted to withdraw...the joke would be on them! Haha!

Now I just use a wall an a shotgun for a bank.

    I kid I kid...or do I?

I was an officer for over 25 years..retired from it now. By what you said you were at your place on your property so who gives a crap you were in your car rolling your windows up and you had some beer. I always told people they could always drink as much as they wanted in their property as long as we dont get a bunch of calls. I knew some officers like this..police work is like anything else in the workplace..most are good but you always have a few idiots. I came up with the following ratio in my years..1 in about ever 6 to 8 people is an idiot..this theory holds true in about any profession.

Anyway I would have said "Thanks for your help, enjoy your day". Like Barney Fife said.. You can't always go by the book, go by what your heart tells you.

I always remembered what my instructor at the academy said,he never felt like he had done his job if they did not thank him even if he had to make an arrest.
I think the problem is now the officers are being trained by people who want to be Marine drill instructors and they come out of school with an attitude.

I am not really sure...not completely on this subject but when I went to the Academy back in 1990 there was only one video at that time that showed an officer being murdered..it happened in Texas. Today there are hundreds of videos, they are great learning tools but at the same time it can make some officers a little paranoid ( you can't be too careful) but that can't be at the expense of being polite and respectful to the public.
Also some officers rely too much on less lethal weapons such as tasers and such. When I started we didn't have all that..it was mostly verbal judo and before going hands on...this seems to have fallen by the wayside somewhat as of late. Police have a very tough job, there are few bad apples in anything. The op might have been better off not saying "none of your business " that never helps.

If it's the truth, I'm going to say it...whether it helps or not.

Sounds like you almost caused yourself a problem. Never argue with the guy/gal with the badge and the gun.

Had you simply said yeah I had a few, just rolling up my windows for the storm. I never drive after drinking, she probably wouldn't have hassled you at all.

It's an apartment building parking lot, if they have permission from the owners to patrol the lot, it doesn't matter that its on private property. No different than a Wal-Mart parking lot.

I find the responses in this thread funny. Dude is sitting there in his vehicle with alcohol on his breath and some how you all think the cop must have an attitude for suspecting he may possibly have just driven or be planning to drive while intoxicated.

You know why most of us don't have problems with cops? Cause we don't pull an attitude and tell them to mind thier own business when they ask a perfectly reasonable question.
