Mkay, make sure you remove your cb radio, GPS, paper maps, and of course your radio(music). Can't have any distractions... While you're at it change to an automatic truck and take out any cupholder, and make sure never to eat anything while driving.
But your dog/cat riding in the cab with you is fine....

I've been on the road for almost 40 years. I curse the day cell phones were invented. Dispatchers who can barely speak English calling you every 5 minutes. Shippers or receivers who can barely speak English calling you all the time for where are you when you gonna get here updates. CB And VHF radios in my truck, which is fine cuz it can get boring without a little chatter. Peering at the tiny phone screen for directions. Resorting to fold out maps. Going back and forth between sunglasses and reading glasses to see. I have rarely used them and hate them most of all, but those #### Qualcomm units and emails and text messages you have to reply to asap, of course while driving. Playing with the stereo. Smoke in one hand and a pop or a nuclear hazmat corn beef and rye in the other. having to play with the high beam lever every few minutes, usually while having to shift and have something else in hand at the same time. Gee,whatever happened to those awesome old school high beam foot switches. Swatting away insects. Holding hand in front to block sun that's lower than the visor and frying eyeballs. Not to mention occasionally digging around trying to find a pepcid or ibuprofen, and trying to knock just one or two in the bottle into your hand. And of course the infamous having to hammer the brakes and the stuff you need ends up on the floor. That's usually good for a few miles of trying the grab it all and putting it back on the jump seat.
Distracted driving, that is me. -
I don’t have GPS, the dog sleeps while I’m driving, If I need to refer to a map, I do it while parked. I eat on my breaks, I have a CB but hardly anyone seems to use them anymore. I’m not perfect by any means and wasn’t implying that I was. Simply stating my preference. I’ve been accident/ incident & violation free for over 26 years.

Bluetooth lecture thread.

BlueParrot B250-XTS. I've had mine maybe 5 years. It's loud enough volume in case someone wears earplugs. The noise cancelling removes all truck noise. No complaints. I wear glasses. The headsets where the speaker rests on the side of the ear, instead of around the full ear like the 450, work best for glass wearers.BazookaJoe Thanks this.

NOBODY, drives as well talking on the phone or to a passenger as someone not talking. The people that say they drive just as well either drive poorly all of the time or don't pay attention to the numerous details the non-talkers do notice. You can drive safe enough while talking but nobody would recommend adding phone use while driving as a way to improve anyone's driving.adayrider Thanks this.

Has anyone here ever missed an exit because you were preoccupied with the phone call?
driverdriver, tscottme and Diesel Dave Thank this.
