Amen to that! Over the years, I've run for companies that gave you all the miles you wanted. Some weeks, running the Western 11 I'd rack up 3,600+ miles, aside from the need to violate HOS; let me tell you, the lifestyle sucks! You wake up feeling like crap, 18 hrs. later you climb in the sleeper, WISHING you felt the way you did when you got up. Sure, you make $1,600 or more, but every minute of your day you feel like #####. I remember so many times in the early morning hours, driving by rest stops green with envy of the drivers warm in their beds, while I am running with my windows wide open, freezing, just trying to stay awake. NOTHING is worth that! Aside from the fact that you're taking your life, and the lives of untold numbers of innocent driver's life, in your hands.

For you new drivers, when you look at your miles and feel a need to complain---take another look: at those drivers you see in the trucks stops with their quart-sized coffee cups, bloodshot eyes, hair pointing every which way; ask yourself: "How much do I need to make for it to be worth looking and feeling like that?" Good luck

I know they have Dollar General Dedicated in Florida. I'm not sure where the distrobution center is though. The money's good but you have to unload the trailer yourself. I'm on that account but I run out of Fulton MO. We're hurting for drivers up here so they might need them in Fla too. Werner just initiated a new policy, If you have 2 accidennts in one year on the Dollar General account, you are off the account and go to 48 states. That might open up some more spots.

You're absolutely right!!! All I need to know about Werner is that here is a driver who was satisfied for 15 years!!! That is a rarity in a profession in which drivers are famous for job-hopping. Always looking for the greener grass on the other side of the fence. For a driver to stay with a single company 15 years can only, in my opinion, be interpreted as a "ringing endorsement." I actually think I am going to have to look into this company. As for this driver in particular. I see them all the time; some new hire gets a run that he wanted and it's all about. "Why did he get it? I've been here 15 years, blah, blah, blah..." and then, "I'll show them--I'LL QUIT!!! Boy, will they be sorry!!! They'll come crawling to me begging me to work for them." No doubt the company regrets the loss, but nothing stops. They go right on doing what they've been doing. Now he's the new hire.

Meh... if he's lying it's probably the 15 years. His post is no different than all the other complaints otherwise.

I believe the 15 yrs., but there is much that is not being said. I have read about every post in this thread. There are twenty pages and most the posts seem to be pro-Werner. I also notice that most of the posts are by drivers with 0-1 yrs. experience. Many drivers enter this profession with the misguided belief that there is unlimited opportunity in the industry; when the truth is that those opportunities are years down the road and demanding of a record that reflects good safe driving habits, solid work history, good work ethic, and the pursuit of challenging work that offers a range of skills so that one day the driver can rise to level of expertise that puts you in that handful of drivers worthy of consideration for those positions. But, with little or no experience your options are very limited; you can go with the small crappy companies, the container hauling companies are an excellent example, or the very large companies like US Xpress, Swift, Werner, and so on. Within these companies you are simply a means to an end, you are a number, unseen, unheard, and unknown. These companies operate on a very narrow profit margin and adhering to very strict guidelines. They are very nitpicking on safety, because as they are usually self-insured, running thousands of trucks, accidents have to be kept to a minimum because they bear 100% of the responsibility for settlements. Operations of these companies are determined in large part by the use of complex mathematical models that break down all the variables of trucking to the smallest detail. An example of this is that it cost $5.00 for a truck traveling at highway speed to come to a stop. Now, the model comes to this figure by the stess on the frame, tire wear, fuel, and hundreds of other variables. On another note, there are indicators, determined by these models that predict a driver that has a high probability of having a serious accident within a given time. Factors that you and I would think have no bearing on the prediction. But, the models are statisticlly proven. Therefore, it would follow that a company operated on this basis would seem heartless, without consideration for the 'little guy', and impossible to understand. But they are nevertheless an excellent platform from which to launch your driving career. They operate LEGAL. They demand good driving habits, trip planning, adherance to itineraries, responsibility. For those of you that have stuck it out through the everyday trials of working in an environment such as that, you should be commended, and assured that you are doing exactly what you need to be doing. Keep it up and Good Luck.

Thats pretty ########## up right now considering I got let go because of 1 accident and a false report on my record AFTER 4 MONTHS of employment with the company but they are keeping people who have 2 accidents just making them go 48 talk about double standard.

I've read the above pargragh a couple of times and have to laugh at the visual. It's the truth. Doesn't matter what time of the day. I fuel at a Flying J close to my house and sometimes we catch a quick bite there. The thing about the hair makes me laugh out loud. I know it wasn't meant to be funny but this makes my day in the the humor department. Thanks LMAO. :biggrin_25525::biggrin_25525:

You say, that you're with DG in Fulton, can you tell me if Vicki is still there in the office. I visited that facility a few times and we went to lunch. Say hello for me if she's still there. Thanks
