I have a Cummins N14 that keeps breaking the a/c compressor pivot bolts. It is the York style compressor. I have replaced the bolts about 4 times in the last month. I've put a new a/c compressor, new accessory drive pully and new belts on. The a/c belt is jumping a lot. I'm out of ideas. Any help would be appreciated.

What grade of bolt are you using?
Rideandrepair, NoBigHurry, Dino soar and 1 other person Thank this. -
These 2 bolts are the ones that keep breaking. I have tried grade 5 and grade 8 bolts

Are they shouldered at the point where the pivot points meet? And are they very snug in the hole?
They’ll break if they’re threaded all the way to the head and don’t fit tight. Use grade 8 bolts with shoulders that are as long as you can get away with, then torque them to 35 ft. lbs.
It’s the compressor moving on the bracket that is breaking them.Rideandrepair Thanks this. -
They have shoulders and they fit in the holes pretty easy. I've had the truck for over 3 years and it just started doing this in the last month and I can't get the belt to stop jumping.

Do the bolt fit snug in the holes they run through. Had one where the holes got knid of egg shaped and kept breaking the a/c bolts off.

They are a little lose but not real bad

In regards to the jumping belt, did it just start doing that after the new compressor? What does the high side gauge look like? Smooth needle or jumpy?
Get a Krikit gauge to make absolutely sure your belt tension is correct.Rideandrepair Thanks this. -
Belt was doing it before the new compressor. I changed the compressor thinking it was bad since the belt was jumping and breaking the bolts but I'm starting to think the compressor wasn't bad. The high side is smooth. I don't have a gauge to check the belt but I can adjust it to where it doesn't jump as bad then after I drive for a little while it starts jumping bad again
