@wtrippe0909 like stated you are driving a 24 foot RV that is almost half of a tractor trailer combo at 75 feet, when you figure the trailer usually has the rear tires at the 41 foot or 48, foot mark. And it seems you've not got in any accidents. So that's a good start. Heck I call that experience if applying for a straight truck driving job. There is a school near me that trains you while you in the day and you get so many hours of drive time, and logging, and other stuff. All the big carriers around my house have recruited from that school. Like Roehl, Schnieder, swift, and Verona.
But now that I think of it a local carrier bought it. If you want info just message me.

You should call some schools. And some companies too. Not having a job for 20 years is going to raise some flags, but if you can document what you have been doing -account for this time- you may be ok.

There are tons of jobs you could have done working alone. The fact you have squandered all your money and haven't worked in 20 years is, in my opinion, a deal breaker. I cannot imagine anyone putting you in a truck. If by some miracle they do, how are you going to deal with a trainer that won't allow your dog? No company is going to turn you lose even with a CDL without one doing evaluations on you. I advise you to find some kind of work for a year and prove to them, and yourself, you can accept and handle the responsibility and grind of any occupation. I am just being realistic and trying to stop you from wasting what little money I assume you have left.

Don’t talk yourself out of it.
You may be surprised the number of people who drive who have dealt with anxiety and depression and have found relief and serenity in this type of work.
Also it’s the perfect job to have your best friend by your side every day.

Did you have any blackouts before getting a CDL? Will a company hire you if you told them you had a blackout?

    Rocks and wtrippe0909 Thank this.

Have you considered being a gate guard at an oil field? You earn appx $200/day living in your RV at the gate and just check tankers in and out. They provide all the hookups and electricity too.

Be careful about what you talk about, or say on applications.

It's normal to be anxious about driving the biggest vehicle you've ever been in. I've driven since 1994 and I'm still nervous finding customers the first time or going to big cities I've never been to.
