OP, if you are asking the question, then I assume you have facial hair that is important to you. That then begs the question, how important is that hair?
Every year I go through training to maintain my RigPass. It includes fit testing for a breathing apparatus, making sure my H2S monitor is up to date, and knowing exactly what to do if that monitor goes off.
I frequently get dispatched on loads that note that all drivers MUST be clean shaven. Some customers won't allow any facial hair.
Do you want to get paid really well for hauling to the oil patch? If the answer is "Yes!", then get with the program and make ###### sure you are clean shaven, have your PPE on BEFORE you exit your truck (including your fire resistant clothes and H2S monitor), and rake in the fat stacks.
If you aren't willing to do all that, then avoid oil field work. You become a liability, putting other men and women at risk trying to save YOUR ### because you were too proud and stupid.Brettj3876, Crude Truckin', Oldironfan and 14 others Thank this. -

If you shake your head, and more than a teaspoon falls out, it's theft?not4hire, Lepton1 and Oldironfan Thank this. -
Hey Lepton,...that's an interesting note (i'm not familiar with oil field work). But i seem to recall lots of videos of guys working the oil field in ND (cold as north pole) who were bearded up.
Are you speaking of oil work in Texas (or some place other than ND)?
Thanks! -
What about Kim Mitchell?

What kind of sand? I do calcium, lime, potash and phosphate and always unload outside with no issues. Hopper bottom and pneumatic. I never even knew respirators were "required".

Not all locations require a clean shaven face. Probably most will let you have a beard. But we do have some sizeable customers that don't allow facial hair. I'd rather be clean shaven and keep those customers on my "can do" list. My terminal has a few drivers with beards and they aren't allowed to haul for those customers.Crude Truckin' Thanks this.
