Well, if those doctors would get it right once in a while, maybe they wouldn't need all that practice?

AModelCat, InTooDeep and Oldironfan Thank this.

I know most of us has watched cops write tickets to motorists on private property after following them off the road. I advise serious caution blowing a cop off just because of private property. If a DOT cop observes something while you were on the road and follows you in I would comply. If I have been there a while and an idiot DOT cop attempts inspecting my truck I won't get in their way, however I will inform I am on my break and simply ignore them.

    DTP Thanks this.

I would love to hear them on the phone explaining why they have no idea where the heck their truck went...

I bet $100 that not 1 bus was inspected. And another thing about "inspection safety", ever see a DOT officer at a truck involved accident? nope.

How about issuing tickets to automobiles that follow too close or cut off trucks to prevent accidents.

    bottomdumpin and Oldironfan Thank this.

I don't think it would go down that way. The TS manager would be attempting to find out what to do with their truck. The carrier would most likely be trying to find out what happened to their driver.

I thought tomcst was stating trooper trying to inspect trucks that were at truck stops prior to trooper arriving?

Trust me. If a DOT cop is on Truck Stop property they are doing one of three things. They have followed a truck in to deal with something observed, they are looking for a truck for another unrelated matter or they are in harass mode. I highly advise against getting in their way in any case. I can't advise what to do in that last case. however in the first 2 stay the hell out of that cops way. Interfering with a cop can and in most cases WILL get you arrested.

It never happened to me, but they used to love exit 204. The Burbank Love’s used to be a designated fuel stop at a former company I was with and 3 times I saw that happen while I was getting fuel. Saw it once at the Pilot across the highway too when I parked there once and walked across the road to eat at Bob Evans. This was 3-4 years back.

One of our instructor at the CDL school I went to told us that it's a requirement for our state cops (Michigan) to pull over at least one truck a month to do roadside inspection. Whether this is true or not, I wouldn't doubt it one bit.

I don't stress about it anyways, I do a thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspection on my truck and whatever trailer I use every single day and our equipment is in really good condition, anything is wrong and it gets fixed immediately at my work.

I'm not worried about DOT or state cops giving me a hard time. Bring it on, because I'll get a $ bonus from my work for perfect inspection
