Well, I'm having my life wasted again. I sat for two days at the Spartanburg terminal coming off my hometime waiting on a load and finally got one from Anderson, SC to Evansville, IN. (565 miles) The pickups from that location are usually drop & hook, but this time it was a live load and I got detained juuuuuuuust long enough to not be able to make it to Evansville in time to deliver early. The unload was supposed to be at a 24 hour place, so I got up and took it in ASAP after my break at 0530 only to find they had laid off their night crew and nobody would be there until 0700. 1.5 hours wasted off my 14. Then I got one from Mounds, IL to Morehead, KY (523 miles). This was a live load and a d&h drop that I would normally take in the same day and again got detained juuuuuuust long enough that I not only had to shut down before delivery, but had to shut down WAY early because of a lack of places to stop enroute on the Blue Grass Parkway. So, I only got to Glendale, KY, got up early and ran it in straight after my break and got freakin' detained again on a d&h! This was a Dollar General and the receiving people were sitting right there playing grab-butt and actively ignoring the waiting drivers. Once I finally got that one off, there was of course, no freight ...

Later in the morning I got three different offers of very short loads at three different times for which I didn't have the hours for pickup or delivery in one way or another. It felt like dispatch was playing a game with me. All three came out of Middletown, OH which is a three hour drive from where I sit and each one was juuuuuust out of reach for either pickup or delivery by the time they sent it to me. Now I'm stuck on one going from Mariemont, OH to Charlotte, NC (598 miles) that doesn't pick up until 1500 tomorrow which will put me in line in Charlotte at 0600 Monday where it's a pretty sure bet I'll sit at least another day. That'll be a 1686 mile week which I imagine drivers at some companies wouldn't mind, but I'm definitely feeling in an old Supersnackbar mood right now ... or maybe something like "it" in a game of keepaway.

I'm right there with ya. It's been a horrendous couple of weeks. I can't get my butt out of the NE or the Carolinas. Every time I deliver a load I get the no freight message and sit around for a day or so. Of late. I delivered to NC and was told to check back the next day. After siting for about 30hrs I ran a 500mi load up to PA (bad news) and proceeded to sit for about 37hrs. Then it was time to run another 500mi run that ended up in the Boston area where I sat for over 24hr waiting. That was rewarded with a 800mi run right back down to NC. Once empty I got the same "no freght" message and sat for another 24 and was deadheaded to Ohio to get a load.

I'll give em kudos for that one, 450mi deadhead to get me back into the freight lanes. But it is bitter sweet because I now have to sit for 34hrs to pickup this 339mi run that doesn't deliver until Monday at 11pm. That will result in another 34hrs down waiting to deliver. And guess what kind of freight is going to be offered to me in the middle of the night while I'm sitting empty in MD. Even if they do have a load for me, my 14hr clock will start in the middle of the night, so my Tuesday is shot on top of it.

The most frustrating part is that I was talking to a couple of drivers while I was sitting in our Greensboro yard. When I walked into the Columbus terminal today they were here too. They both had loads that picked up this AM and were good mileage D/H runs while I'm stuck here with my 339mi run that I'm going to be under for the next 3 days. And it wasn't a pay scale issue either, they were both at a higher pay rate than me. Just a luck of the draw thing.

By the time I'm empty and under a load again I will have a grand total of 2521mi over a 11 day period which could very easily turn into a 12 day total if I don't get a load out of MD when empty. That's a little over 200mi/day average.

Where is SuperSnack, we need him back here to absorb some of this bad luck.

I knew the first quarter of this year was going to be a little rough. But, OUCH!

GET ME OUT OF THE NE!

^ Maybe I'll see you somewhere west of the Mississippi next week ... Wishful thinking ... As it stands, I'm just gonna sit here and take a restart before I pick up the Charlotte load in case some miracle happens and I get a long turn & burn first thing Monday morning ...
