Driver backing while talking on cell phone

Discussion in 'Experienced Truckers' Advice' started by gentleroger, Jul 5, 2018.

You watch a "driver" backing into while talking on a handheld phone. Do you call his company?

    You got it covered.
Eloggers can back in a spot with ease, even while holding the phone.
It’s those paper loggers that can’t back up. They’re used to parking on an onramp and grapbing a lil nap here and there.
Look at WoreOut’s elog exempt setup, a bellydump. “drive over the pit and drive under the chute”

Stop looking in other peoples trucks. I back into parking spots now with my windshield curtains pulled shut:).

Seriously tho mind your business, and do it from the get go. No need to help a driver back into a spot if it’s a double!!! Let the shmuck fail. You ain’t that special, nobody really gives a hoot what you have to say. Call his Saftey dept....yeah then the spend thd rest of the day making fun of you. I’ve watched those emails be printed out and passed around for the entertainment value. I’ve also watched saftey guys who will put your dumb arse on speaker & hit the mute button, so the whole office can laugh at you.

Again, no matter what you heard. You are not that important & nobody cares

when I was a spotter I backed constantly while on the 2 way radio and company cell phone into spots tighter than any truck atop .What's the problem ? A good backer is a good backer

Those guys backing with their doors open are probably more of a hazard

Huge difference between using communication devices to spot someone into a spot and talking to someone in a completely different location.

Maybe I should have asked "do you want the guy backing in next to you to be talking on his phone?" Also, if he was a "good backer" do you tink I would have even noticed?

I didn't say anything about using communication devices to help somebody back up into a spot .

I used those the devices as a yard hostler /jockey/dog/spotter (whatever you want to call it) while backing up and moving + 10 trailers per Hour in a fast paced environment with a lot tighter spaces than any truck stop in this country !

And like I originally said , a good backer is a good backer .

You should see the place I just backed into this morning. Blindside 90 degree inside a load out door I couldn't see. Had to pull up a time or 3 not bad for a rookie lmao
