Hey ya'll I got a 2008 389 with a isx. Earlier this spring it was shutting off randomly and we were jumping the fuel shut off to see if it was working properly. Anyways it stopped working so I changed the solenoid and the guts inside and it still wont work. It wont open up and let the truck start. Anyone have any other ideas? I used and meter tester and its getting power to the solenoid.

If you replaced it and assembled it properly, and it's getting power, you probably have a different problem.
-
Yeah i figured so. Asking to see if anyone knows what the other problem could be.

If it just shuts off like instant, then you need to see if it is logging any codes for low fuel pressure or loss of ECM battery supply. If it has no codes you could be losing ignition power or even an internal ECM problem.

12v sounds ok but maybe amps arent enough to move it, dont know how many amps it needs but bulb tests helped me to diagnose broken wire that was giving all the Volts but no Amps.was using 55W headlight bulb to check wire continuity. Good luck

Thanks guys I'll keep trying, would it hurt just using the fuel shut off gutted? Also while I have you guys here do you know what fuse or relay controls your floor light underneath your maxxies? My lights there dont work, either with the ones on my switches on my far right side by radio, plus the lights when I open the door. I was ####ing around with some lights under the dash and I must have blew something cause they all went out at once

How mich time running until it shutts off? A lot of times it’s as simple as a small sensor heating up and shutting off, I’ve had an issue on a kenworth where the temp sensor went bad and sent signals to ecm that truck was heating up and just shut off. Are you getting any lights before shutting off?
