Ok so I've had the truck at Detroit in Orlando 2 days (07 freightliner Columbia) I put a new solenoid on it (under expansion tank) didnt fix. Their computer says everything is good with ecm but no ground going to the solenoid. They put their own ecm on, fan still ran non stop. Wires have been checked going from solenoid to ecm no breaks. Everything on truck works fine AC works (cold) , no faults but fan wont quit running. They were stumped n said they may need to tear dash apart I dont have time for that so drove it home.
    Stumped ... any ideas?

What in ecm is trekking fan too run. Temp switch or a/c pressure or manual switch. Once you know which switch trace the circuit. I had one that did similar, was corroded pin on a/c pressure switch but nothing in computer for codes, but showed that switch as commanding fan on in ecm.

What kind of engine? My ISX was stuck. it was the high pressure switch at the compressor. Three switches just with AC that do fan clutch. There is also, water temp, intake manifold temp, exhaust manifold temp, and one other that make the fan kick on with the ISX.

Thanks guys, I asked the tech at detroit if the ecm showed what was making fan run, he said nothing on his laptop was showing fan running:( guess I'll have to unplug EVERYTHING lol and check connections.... they seem to think something behind the dash is causing it to run... although they have no idea what. #fueleconomysucksrightnow

All those switches are normally closed. So pull them one by one, and put a little jumper wire in the connector. That will tell you if it's a switch.

    EnglishMark Thanks this.

Same problem on 379 with a C15!! Changed cam this weekend and now the fan won’t shut off. Would disconnecting the batteries for a long period reset something?
