I saw one for a "6 minute workout". if it doesn't work they'll give you the 7th minute for free.

I am really interested in y'all's responses to this. We are implementing a wellness program for our company to assist our drivers like y'all to give hope and solutions to this very thing. Driving is tough - and your breaks are precious! We can create a wellness all day long, but at the end of the day if the drivers are too wore out to participate, it does no good.
I'm wanting to create tractor cards to put in each tractor with simple ways to exercise (If even just to get their body moving repetitively) and simple ways to cut the cals but still get filled up and maintain stamina for the job. Would y'all use something like that if you had it? Maybe you could make one of your own to help remind you? Or even an app on your phone..?
I love the idea of using the truck as your exercise equipment. I saw this the other day and thought it was brilliant. Do any of y'all ever do this? What are some exercises that you can reasonably accomplish that don't take you away from your tractor?
If your company offered a really good wellness program that offered coaching (can be like counseling for some), tips and suggestions for staying well/healthy, places to eat on the road via your route that were healthier, weight loss assistance, smoking cessation, and health screenings - would you use it? What would you want to see? I'm wanting to hear from drivers what y'all wish you had in your companies.Skytz33 Thanks this. -
I'm driving milk truck locally and I don't think it's as unhealthy as otr. I drive for 30 or 40 minutes at a time. I back up to milk house take a stick reading, take samples, hook up the milk hose and start loading. I get up on the tanker and watch loading so I don't spill also to check the seals. I go home at the end of the day after about a 9 hour shift. I am able to eat at home. I also don't have to deal with the mental stress of being away from home.
I think it's better and healthier that I'm not driving nonstop for 10 hours per day....and that I make those stops regularly. It's physical activity but not hard labor. Not the kind of work that will destroy my back.
I also like being able to go to the bathroom at any given time. Holding one's bladder too long isn't healthy either. -
I find eating my carnivore diet is easy on the road with a little discipline and I keep a 25 lbs kettle bell with me.

I was sitting at a Truckstop waiting to be rescued from work cause I ran out of hours. I noticed out of 20 drivers 1 was in good shape. Younger dude driving for mega carrier. I saw the “so called in shape flatbedder” belly hanging out from his shirt and butt crack showing looking he needed to loose about 60 lbs flop out of his truck. I say most of those drivers I saw were min 40lbs overweight. I applaud people on here that can stay healthy on the road eating right but I’m sure there are a very few. Keto is the way to go. Carbs just make you fat especially if you have a very inactive job. Carbs and OTR trucking equals blow the F up.

I agree completely and I lost 140 pounds with Keto. I wasn’t on the road though. I’m carnivore now which is naturally Ketogenic and this time on the road has been infinitely easier than when I did it before 6 years ago while on the SAD (Standard American Diet).
People don’t understand or believe that we have zero metabolic or nutritional need for carbohydrates. In many cases all they do is wreck our metabolism. It amazes me that you can actually reverse Type 2 Diabetes simply by diet.runningman0661, Radman and otterinthewater Thank this. -
Another keto guy here.
People always think it’s expensive. It isn’t. There’s a natural caloric reduction that happens.
They say it’s difficult. It isn’t. Your natural satiated feeling comes back and you stop being hungry all the time, so you pick and chose where and when you eat. I eat once a day around dinner time.
There’s so many other benefits. Improved immune system, less inflammation, better hormone production, plus I can plan when I have to go to the bathroom quite accurately. lol.runningman0661, PantherFan and Radman Thank this. -
Carnivore is the way to go also if you can do it. We were made to eat meat. Plus it satisfies the hunger. I cringe when people say eat salads. Why so you can be hungry in 30 min? Eat some eggs and steak and watch the lbs fall off. No carbs is no sugar in your diet. In all the diets sugar is the most agreed besides vegans on things that cause health problems.Last edited: Jul 8, 2018
