changing without the clutch

    i am a young trucker and i only used the clutch to start an stop. can this b harmful to my transmission or maybe my engine?

    not as long as you are smooth and hit it right i never use clutch either ..........when i got my new pete it was so stiff i double clutched it till she broke in but dont have too now ..........not using cluth can actually extend life of clutch .............if im in a really hard pull maybe pull it down a little too much ( i haul 130,000) i'll push clutch in just to get it out of gear ..............most guys never touch it

    Yes. If not done right you can cause harm to the tranny by "floating".

    When you float the gears it should take little effort. If it is hard to get into a gear and you are jamming it in or hearing all kinds of strange noises then may you should go back to double clutching.

    But if done right you are actually saving wear and tear on your clutch.
