    Just because Crete is making a few minor changes, doesn't mean their a bad company.. Heck you should be happy you still have a job. In today's economy it is better to take a little less then noting at all... My company made a few changes on the haul rates we get paid from certain shippers. Yes I may loose up to $50 a week, but it is still better than not being paid at all..

    LOL Try driving for Arrow out of Tulsa, OK. They average 10% or more off of the practical miles. I also found out by accident from the billing department that Arrow charges the customer for practical miles and pays their drivers household movers miles. Couldnt this be classified as defrauding the customer? Anyway, DO NOT EVER drive for Arrow trucking. They will be out of business soon. They dont pay their bills or taxes. The State of Oklahoma is now investigating them for not reporting income paid out as workers compensation. They were supposed to pay taxes on it! LOL Ooops. Rest uncomfortably Arrow.

    I'm sorry, but I have to agree with Ever. When we drove for Crete, our practical miles was shaved off about 5 miles or so. And not every load was off at all either. Sometimes we were paid right on the mark.

    And with every company we drove for, we had to do our macros for detention...Nothing wrong with that either. Sounds like another driver who just gripes about doing paperwork, it's all part of a job. Would you rather be doing construction out in the hot blazing sun or in the COLD snowy weather? We chose to drive for a living, away from home and that will involve paperwork, macros and everything our company requires of us. Fact of life!

    Not to open up an entire new can of worms but a lot of companies aren't even charging the customer for detention or for a lot of accessorials these days. Rates and customer retention is so cut throat these days it's incredible.

    The shaving I was referring to is in regards to cutting back what a driver is paid compared to the last time they pulled that load. If I get paid x number of dollars for running a load from Omaha to Tracy then each and every time I run that load I should be paid the same amount. Crete is not doing that. They are cutting miles off of loads to save money. That's despicable.

    By how much do they shave off of your loads? If it is within the norm of 5 miles then that isn't too shabby.

    Ive had 2 Detention pays I will never forget with Crete. 1. was a Kellogs in LA where the load wasnt ready, and I took my 10 hour break, and then load was ready, I got paid 10+ hours detention! The other time was when I was picking up Budweiser in Colorado and the load wasnt ready because Crete didnt have enough emptys for them to load, I took my 10 hours break and load was ready in the morning, I got paid for that also!!! I got paid twice for sleeping 10 hours! Thanks to Crete

    I have 5 years experience but have not driven in 4 and a half years. Does Crete make you take a refresher course?

    Many, if not all of the major carriers will not touch you without taking a refresher course after being out of the truck for that long. Especially in today's driver market. Unlike the past, companies can now be picky about who they hire and it has put up a barrier that many are having a hard time getting past.

    If Crete does hire you, you would have to go out with a trainer for awhile. I have no idea how long though. I would imagine somewhere between 2-6 weeks.

    If you want to get back into trucking start making some phone calls and find out what hiring qualifications are for drivers like yourself that have been out of a truck for awhile. I think you will be surprised at how selective many companies have become.

    By the way, how's life back at Wilmington. I'm sure missing the place. You wouldn't be interested in a nice little house over in Magnolia Greens, would ya? ;->

    I've collected on 10hr breaks on more than one occasion too. But I think it has been at least 6 month or more since I've been detained for more than 3hrs. I am so rarely held up past the first two hours (usually less than an hour) that it just isn't an issue for me. Now, getting a load once empty has become an entirely different story of late.
