JAS, your right about that, please note i said "easiest way not cheapest ". the drawback to stretching spring is its memory. it will somewhat return to where it started. also you get new press relief cover with larger orafice and checkball so your not forcing fuel so much. easier on trans pump. for someone with limited ability i think its easier.....just my opinion

I installedthe FASS on my MXS CAT and have had good performance out of it. It makes the truck idle a little smoother, but the real difference comes near the end of the day. The truck runs more consistant all day now. I went with the 200gph system because I am planning on some high hp numbers in the future.

As for the filters I highly suggest that if you but a FASS you run the FASS or Fleetguard filters. I tried the Baldwins and they were just way to restrictive. Also the second filter on the FASS is a hydrualic filter which does a dang good job at catching crud, but can be hard to find to replace. I order my Fleetguard filters through Cummins...they get a kick out of me buying them there for a CAT motor.

Kenny Jones and his friends have a great product in the Engine Maxx, but the FASS has been proven to me on some of the local 4x4 pickup pullers and a couple of over the road trucks. Also I like the idea of the return line on the FASS...I think it keeps a constant supply of cool fuel going to the pump and also the fuel isn't just deadheading into the pump. With the fuel deadheading into the pump your pressure can vary a lot where as the bypass is more constant as long as the relief spring is good.

Pullingtrucker, FASS seems to work really well on acerts, better than say 6NZs. which is odd because they have same fuel system. talked to CAT engine tech center about this, they say its true but cant or wont give reasons why. acerts seem to want as much unrestricted fuel as possible. my fuel preperator exp 10 yrs ago was a real pain but its changed alot since then. really considering FASS as my next step....by the way , good explanation on the FASS system

I thought one of the biggest reasons you might use the FASS systen was to get the air out of the feul going to your engine.I used it for that reason on my truck with a series 60,I had a mech. feul press. gauge and you could see how hard that needle would bounce, the only thing that causes that is air.Insatlled the FASS and it was almost completely gone.On DD's we really didn't need it for feul pressue increase although I sure the feul pump appreciated the help.

The FASS does work well on the Acerts. The Acert is a picky motor when it comes to driving style, fuel supply, and a couple of other things. Like I said I plan on having some high hp numbers later on (mostly for pulling at the fairs) and I wanted to make sure the fuel was there when the motor needed it, which the FASS supplied. The big thing with the Acert fuel supply is how hot they have the engines running now. The Acert runs to hot in my opinion and that inturn heats the fuel in the head (great in the winter, but you can guess the result in the summer). This in turn causes low power and even injector failure from the super hot fuel. Then it gets back to the tank and causes more airation than other engines.

I mounted mine on the drivers side frain rail, right in front of the rear spring shackle. I had to move the remote grease bank forward about 2 inches, but it fits perfect there.
