You are more than welcome to sit somewhere for 8 hours and then be told you are not a priority and then just suck it up. Unacceptable in my book.

    x1Heavy and bzinger Thank this.

I'm gonna be clear here. If I show up on time to a customer and they tell me they are running behind for whatever reason I am cool with that. I tell them just wake me up when you're done. Stuff happens, I get it. But when you leave me twisting in the wind and when I inquire as to why your response is I'm not a priority, thats unacceptable. Communicating goes a long way in this business.

A little common courtesy can go a long way in this business. Act professional and expect professional behavior in return. Act unprofessional and you can find somebody else to haul your freight.

Exactly. Don't treat me like bottom the food chain. My job quality is based off how I'm treated, pay regardless. I talk directly to the customers a lot(contract term/condition is customer and me discuss arrival and special instructions) and I'm treated depends how motivated I am to arrive earlier than the "deliver by."

Added bonus the more times you call asking where I'm at every 30 minutes I start running the minimum speed limit.

bzinger and THE ROOKIE Thank this.

You handled that extremely well. In my business experience the best customers are often those where you overcame a rough start.

Your experience also touches on the fact that shippers can't afford to lose truckers. There's a driver shortage and with the manditory ELD rule it has forced shippers to change. Even in the oil industry shippers have had to adjust. They can no longer have you wait for free as they fish tools out of the hole and expect you to complete a long run.

I’m banned from east Dubuque nitrogen because they like to play games. Place is a dump.
