I also contacted OOIDA about their position on this issue. I have been a member for over 10 years until now. I can no longer be a member of a trade organization so blind to the trade they are supposed to be fighting for.

 

I liked the pre-ELD era better because I was able to cheat, if I wanted to. To be 100% honest, I would be all right without ELDs, I don't need them to be happy. However, I'd feel awkward to go there and say "make me exempt because with ELDs I can no longer cheat". I could go there and comment on HOS but that is not the subject matter, unfortunately.

But that's the issue, ELD is an easy pick for them, CARB is a really hard one and they should take on the hard ones because it really effects all of our bottom line more than ELDs. HOS changing to the old 1962 version is exactly what we needed, I knew when Bush DOT announced the BS changes they made, it was going to kill a lot of us if we went to electronic recorders.

Elds make us safer!! That's why I went from a 2012 to 1993. Much safer in a 25 yr old truck..

That's true. With my ddec II detroit, I don't have to worry about the epa stuff leaving me on the side of the road to get wiped out by a texting, movie watching, face stuffing wheel holder who doesn't merge for a fellow on the shoulder..
