Wait a second here. The DMV does not do commercial road tests in wisconsin anymore. I thought millis was a third party tester. Are you telling me I have to go out and find a third party tester to give me my road test? Last time I did that It cost me over a hundred bucks and that was just to get an air brake restriction taken off of my class B CDL and an abbreviated road test. I can only imagine what a full test in a semi would cost.

DMV in Wisconsin has not done CMV road tests for over 10 years at least. The only road tests WI DMV does are for car and motorcycle.

The school I went through had arrangements with third party testers to do the testing. The initial road test was part of our tuition cost, and the tests were done out of various locations. If we messed up the first time, we had to come up with the $100 for the second road test.

As far as miles go it really depends on where you are at if you are in the right spots at the right time you will get planty of miles. As for my miles i have been averaging about 2100 miles a week lately and that is what i have been hearing from most of the drivers i have talked to also.

I have some advice for any women thinking of applying to Millis. Don't waste your time!!! The recruiter I talked to told me they didn't have women trainers and as a matter of fact she was quite rude about it! I ran into that problem with Prime too. They told me they have a waiting list for women trainers of 6 mths to a year! It's gonna be hard for me to get a job if no one will train me!:biggrin_25510:

Whats wrong with having a male trainer? Does it really matter what sex they are as long as they do their job and train you right?
My son in law had a female trainer at Millis and the had no problem with each other.
And as for females going to get trained at Millis why do they have to have a female trainer?
You sound so unhappy about no female trainers.
Was it really a rude recruiter or the way you took sounded at it was a tit for tat?
I have heard that the recruiters are nice and really nice to talk to .
Did you have a bad day?

yeah the trainers are really good. you got a few that are a bit wonky, but for the most part millis has good trainers. male or female they'll train you unless you're a hard head and can't take constructive criticism.

For what its worth, I talked to Mike Millis about a year ago, he used to be a third party tester but doesn't do it anymore.

I see nothing wrong with a female student having a male trainer.

I had two male trainers 10 years ago when I got my CDL. There were less female drivers then, so I was given the choice of waiting who knows how long or having a male trainer. I took the male trainer.

The only issue I had was my first trainer didn't seem to think women should be driving truck. Never had to deal with feeling like either would cross the line.

I am suprised to hear that they were rude to you on the phone.
I am about to go to Millis on Feb 16th and from the first time I spoke to them at Illis they were always very nice and helpful no matter what my questions or concerns were.
    Maybe you should try again.
I also know that they have female trainers although i couldnt tell you how many of them they have or how long you would have to wait.
I think if you know how to handle yourself there shouldnt be a problem having a male trainer. This is a job and I am sure you would find that mosst everyone would be very professional about what you are there for ...TRAINING. Of course there is a bad apple in every crowd but then if you read through some of the other Millis posts here on this forum you will find that someone who is in a trainers truck as we speak just posted that you and the trainer are given forms to fill out on your experience with the whole training process.
I wish you all the luck in your endeavor. Not every guy on the planet is a monster! :mwink:
