guessing this is a con...they will try and sell you on thier lease program do not do it...espi considering you know nothing about the industry
hotrodphil Thanks this. -
Congrats Good Luck and watch what you are signing

That's really a loaded question. Some hate Prime and others make good money...I'd be happy right now if someone hired you. Stay away from the lease program and don't sign the paperwork for that it would be a HUGE mistake on your part.
When they assigned you a truck just drive it like you own it...take care of it no matter what you think of it.

I never got a lease pitch from anyone above me. They just asked me you going company or lease? I responded "company" and then they moved me along that particular path.
I did have other truckers ask me which way I was going (lease or company) Everyone has their own thoughts but not a single one were telling me which way to go.
Advice... first, be early.... early is on time and if you are let go for a break or the day make sure you know where you are required to be for the next class.
Your not getting any help other than a Missouri CDL manual to take your permit test... passing the test on your own is a test of your commitment to wanting to be there.
If you dont like trucking you have up until your first week out with an instructor to quit free and clear.
The Springfield terminal is a driver's palace... the way things go, you will be lucky to get through there once a month, and none of the other terminals come close to it... so dont get too used to it.
If you dont know something, ask... the only dumb question is the one not asked.
Cross your fingers for a good instructor or trainer. For the most part they are good... there are a few, eh... so I have heard. Mine was really good.
Bring all your information that you filled out on the application...9 times out of 10 they have you fill out paperwork that requires that info again... friends/refrences/addresses etc... ID, Passport, Birth Cert, Soc Sec Card (whatever they require)hotrodphil Thanks this. -

I have to agree with u2exit.... i almost fell for the stevens crap and then i found this site...and ahhhhhh!!!!
i went with prime.... had never driven a truck.. until the day i showed up at the hotel... in july and as of today i have about 90000 miles under belt... and can bck that trler into just about anything

Some spots take a little longer that others... but if theres room i can get it in their... like he said with the lease the ask if ur company or lease.. i said lease but company for about 3-4 months.. all they said was ok... i started solo in nov..and the plan was to lease in mid FEB......
(all the people on this and other sites state that prime will try to force you in a lease)
Had been hearing about slow freight with economy so message the FM about leasing in mid feb. he suggested wait till march when freight picks bck up.......... but if thats what u want to do i can set it up for ya
Does this sound like a company trying to force a lease on YA
And now I'm a company driver in a 2009 cascadia ( PICTURE ME ROLLING)
I detailed my training experience with prime... under kilroys no cdl driving experience
CAN"T post the site on hear but just google prime and then add drivers after the companies name put the 2 words together and hit searchhotrodphil Thanks this. -
Good luck, Give it your all!

I agree with U2Exit. I started with Prime and took a lease after training. A REAL learning experience that was! But at the time, Prime did not have company drivers. If it was today, I would probably start as a company driver, just because you don't know anything about the industry yet. Get comfortable with driving first, then look at a lease... as bigant is doing. Good way to do things. Despite all the BS you read, Prime IS a good company.
