Cyber, this kind of article belongs in the good news area!! That is the kind of thing to put a smile on the face of a driver looking for work!
misterG Thanks this. -
I can agree with that!

I wish they had a yard or terminal in my neck of the woods, i would be there tommorrow

Well, please forgive the cynicism here. But if a trucking company can't find drivers in this economic climate, there is likely a good reason for it. And I just don't believe it is because "nobody wants to work anymore."

Like they always say yall, DONT JUDGE A BOOK BY THE COVER!
-
Hmm, good point.
Possible issues are that:
The company has a bad reputation with drivers in the area
They're in an area where few people are interested in trucking jobs
There aren't any qualified drivers in the area

Well, I will admit to being a little biased about companies who "can't find people who want to work," because of my own experience.
When my wife and I first moved to this area, there was a favorite restaurant that we went to a lot. We struck up an acquaintanceship with a waitress there. Among the things we discussed, were that her husband and father in law own a trucking company. But they were very discouraged as they could not seem to "find anybody who wanted to work."
Well, I went through truck driving school here. I was actually warned away from this company by the folks at this school. BUT in my own hard headed, have to learn the hard way style, went ahead and went to work for them.
Their trucks were all POSes. Their trailers were worse. I had to buy my own load locks, and lump most of my own loads. I could live with all of that. I've never been afraid of hard work.
But what I could not live with was their attitude toward their drivers. They figured that drivers "were a dime a dozen" and "scum." They had a driver that wrecked, and was killed. They were notified while having a party. This same waitress was actually angry that something like this would happen and screw up their party. I overheard her complain to her husband that "The stupid SOB could have waited for a few hours to kill himself!"
When it got to the point that they started screwing me on my pay, I left them. They stayed in business for another five years or so, but when the dad either died or retired, the son couldn't get out of the business fast enough.PharmPhail, dangerous dave, heyns57 and 1 other person Thank this. -
If they can't find or keep help there is usually a reason and it their own fault. As B Don stated, alot of companies treat O/O and drivers as if they are sub-human trash. Consequently, that is what they have to hire. Of course they fool a good driver into coming on once in a while.

wow. i wish they were closer to me. i had an accident 2 months ago that was my fault. im having a real hard time finding anything. and i mean anything, not a warehouse job has called me back. i wish there was some compnay out there that would take someone with an accident. not jb hunt either. hard to make money these days.
