What benefit does one get bashing Landstar? I've been in this business for 26 years, done it all. Pulled everything you could pull. Reefers, Tanks, Flats, Steps,Containers and Landstar is the best company I've ever leased on to. Of course you have charges and fees, I'm glad I have some write-offs because I make so much money I need all the deductions I can get. Heck! I even spend money on my truck that could wait, because I need the deductions. If you can't make a living with Landstar you can't make a living leased on with company. I am a proud and prosperous Landstar BCO.

I am sorry but landstar is a joke.Them trucks are sitting for days, lots of deadhead, agents giving the loads to ''other carriers'' to keep more money for themselves.
Landstar (was) great. But today are a complete joke living with rose colored glasses on from the yester- years...
I look at my board in total disgust. Its a shame to even see some of the trucks with LANDSTAR..They are piles of junk..Never did you see a nasty truck with landstar..
STOP LYING TO THE GUY.LANDSTAR IS NO DIFFERENT THEN C.H.B&T Rogers Thanks this. -
Once upon a time we were, but we have become rigid in our business practices... They, LS, has found that they have created a Frankenstein by educating us or forcing us to learn about business and what it takes to remain profitable.
Since back in the day when policy dictated that loads must go thru us first, they have since allowed loads to post on our boards as well as broker boards. Now they (LS) have found that they have been able to increase their (LS) bottom line and are encouraging agents to just go ahead and broker their loads to outside carriers for as cheap as they can get it moved and splitting the profits with the agents.
Now they are focusing on "Global Logistics", where they want to be able to be a 1 phone call and we do it all.... they make all the arrangements to move the load from, let's say Japan, to XYZ company in Dallas.... Global Logistics will be our customer and they (LS) will pay us what ever they feel they want to... that is if they don't choose to completely bypass us and just go ahead and broker it out so they can keep more of the profits.
We are only here because we are a "Captive" audience...B&T Rogers Thanks this. -
I respectfully disagree with you. Their Out of Service rate is one of the best in America. Most of the Landstar trucks I see are very well maintained and always clean. As long as I'm happy with them that's all that counts. I would not bash another company even if they wouldn't hire me or let me lease on with them. I would just keep my own personal opinions to myself, unless I had a bad motive to enhance myself and my own prosperity. Landstar hires about 3 to 4% of the O/O's that apply. Most of them don't meet their standards. A lot of the ones that don't get hired or on various message boards bashing them to others... human nature, which is sad.

But i no the ''old landstar'' and compare it with the ''new landstar''...Its just not the same anymore for me..
NO MORE LOYALITY AT LANDSTAR...THAT WENT OUT ABOUT 4 YEARS AGO...ITS A CUT THROAT BUSINESS ANYMORE OVER AT LANDSTAR...IMOB&T Rogers Thanks this. -
To answer the original question: Landstar has enough heavy haul and specialty hauls to up the average.

STOP LYING TO YOURSELF AND US MAN !!
Landstar is what it is.
The loss on the prosperous BCO 1099 is also.
5 minutes in the real world and the truth will be known.
JB, Schinder, Werner, Landstar === SAME OLE STUFF !! -
Its very simple and frankly I'm surprised it isn't a lot higher.
These reports are a gross, NOT an apples to apples comparison.
They took every body from van, flat, step, heavy haul and the specialized power only stuff and averaged them out. This is not a van to van, flat to flat, etc etc etc comparison.
Some heavy haul loads run in the thousands of dollars per mile range.
Also that $2.04 average is more than likely to the company, NOT to the owner/op.
